Anyone think Dorling Kindersley should publish a World of Warcraft Encyclopedia, like the ones they published for DC and Marvel? I’ve already made a list of the characters and factions they can use, and instead of giving information about each character’s weight, height, hair colour or eye colour, they’ll simply tell us their race, their affiliations, their known relatives, their status (living or deceased) and maybe even their class. I already made a list of the characters and factions (only the ones with a meaningful history, as read on Wowpedia), and sent an email to DK. I’m now waiting for a response. Anyone want to see this book get published? It will take time, mind you.
I would like one but I’d also be cautious when buying it. Blizz changes lore more than Jaina flip flops on her stance about the Horde…
Going say, that made me smirk more then it should’ve.
I think that’d be fantastic, but I do partially agree with the first reply as well. Blizzard would have to make definite lore or be a lot scarce with what they change.
Of course thinking about, DC & Marvel change their lore all the time. So… I suppose it could work.
If you want, I can show you the list I made. It’s a long one, though.
I’d like an in game encyclopedia.
Like the Civilopedia, but for Warcraft.
I’d rather a multi system update to the tabletop RPG.
Think you could explain it for me?
I love it. A 100 volume World of Warcraft World Book set. I would sell them door to door.
Chronicle kinda does that already though, right?
It’s been done:

The thing about WoW, though, is that it changes on a regular basis, and that has a tendency to make books like this one obsolete. I have some old Warcraft books from 2005-2006 and while they were really neat at the time, a lot of what’s in there has been overwritten by WoW expansion content.
Not really. It just explains all the events in the order of when they occurred.
We aren’t talking about the Ultimate Visual Guide. Also, DC and Marvel have done dozens of those, and they still get DK encyclopedias.
No. You’ll actually see it being sold in book stores everywhere. It won’t be a subscription mail order type thing.
This was more of a joke…when I was a kid, people would sell World Books door to door. My parents had a huge collection of em. Great for getting starter info on book reports back in the 80s and early 90s.
Edit: not book reports, but research paper assignments…
There’s a D&D 3e version of WoW.
I would like to see it updated (I think it was made during TBC?) to include some more recent content.
Multi system because while D&D is the 800 lb gorilla of tabletop gaming, there are other systems. (I prefer GURPS. )
Noooooooo please no. they have wowhead
I don’t want any whiners!
It doesn’t exist anymore.
Bahahahahahaha!
It’s so true. Chronicles III retconned stuff from Chronicles I.
I would buy it. Reminds me of Monster Manuals.
