A Word on World of Warcraft

WoW has a pretty bad track record for stability and balance when there is a PTR. No PTR seems like it will guarantee massive bugs. Especially after big layoffs that must have included QA positions.

I think most WoW players would rather get a preview of what’s coming than this secretive big reveal stuff. Personally, I’m much more hyped to play after seeing upcoming features like we do at Blizzcon than I am with this surprise content that’s not pirates but is definitely pirates. This just feels like some marketing person is trying to create fake buzz.

Our goal is to continue to keep it secret— and keep it safe.

I was pretty interested in what 10.2.6 was going to be…but now I’m REALLY interested.

Hopefully it lives up to all of this hype and secrecy

I am so here for this. I have long, long wished for less PTR

My guesses are standalone Retail hardcore servers with increased open-world difficulty, or maybe just a tuning pass on old-world leveling to make it more engaging?

I expected 10.2.6 before March, so we could get S4 by the end of March.
Granted that’s still a possibility because S4 is rehashed content so won’t need as much testing.

Why are we doing this? We like the idea of releasing content that has some surprises and isn’t datamined or revealed in advance. We also like to see the joy the community gets out of uncovering it all together as they all jump in to play.

Stupidity should have a limit, but it seems that some people have no shortage of it.

They have a very short memory after doing this with Gilneas: They advertised something big while hiding it on the PTR and what was the result?
Disappointment, hatred and loss of confidence in what they’re hiding in their next patch.

I am no longer excited about this patch 10.2.6 now because after Gilneas, i expect the hidden content to be a misery.

I mean… look at some of the replies here. So much copium…

And then, when it’s going to be extremely lame again, there will be countless threads criticizing it once more. Well, once again, nothing learned from it and the cycle continues.

S4 is gonna be April or early May by the looks of it.

Even if this ends up being something minor, this is a fun idea at least. I like it.

Well, I hope 10.2.6 isn’t making any changes that’ll break addons since addon devs won’t be able to use the PTR to test and fix them ahead of time.

Well. The surprise angle will either be amazing of fall flat on its face. Very little room for an in between.

Still. I’m cautiously hopeful? Pulling for you WoW team, if the addons break at least let it be for a good cause.

At any point are we ever going to get some comment on pvp for retail? There is like a infintie amount more communication on classic PVP then retail.

Are PVPers going to get the shaft again, with shorted unpredictable seasons? Cutting off rewards for S3 to shove in a S4, making it so a LOT of players have a much harder time reaching end of season goals?

Hello? Pvp? are you still alive?

Whatever it is… all I can say is YES!!! I absolutely HATE the way stuff gets data mined to death.

Surprise is good, but it also makes offering feedback and any substantive changes before releasing the secret content impossible.

I suppose we will see very quickly if this is a worthy trade-off.

I like the idea of not knowing in advance what’s in the next patch. That makes for premature burnout. But …

Event? EVENT??? You have already ruined the world content of Dragonflight by pushing garbage “Events” down our throats. Bad, devs. Very bad idea.
