A Word on World of Warcraft for 2025

Why would you need both? What did TBC have that WOTLK didn’t have?
It was Cat that really ended the Classic period.

Garrisons had some nice touches that could be valuable to housing though, just not as a complete copy.

The stable and menagerie to display mounts and pets were great. Gave life to the massive collection of both we have had pile up over the years.

I also liked the herb garden. Much better than running to some out of the way spot in a zone for planting seeds.

These only work if housing has an outdoor component of course. If it’s just interiors like apartments then I guess it will just be furniture, which is a bummer.

Info on player housing please, as for dye system idea for it just don’t allow tier sets to be part of it or just let it just be trader post items.

Because why not? TBC is very different from WotLK. Classes play differently, there are massive attunements, professions work differently. You need keys to unlock heroics - These are just a handful of RPG elements missing from WotLK.

L M F A O! Absolutely, without a doubt, incorrect. WotLK ended the classic period. WotLK was still an RPG at it’s core, stuff still took time, and you had to be careful about certain things you did up to a certain level (for most classes, that was around level 30). Fast forward to Cata, and you’ve got a level 5 Priest mass pulling mobs with SW:P and a never-ending overpowered Bubble.

this is a lot of words to say that you are still planning on making content?

I LOVE that you’re thinking about New Player improvements. But please, and I mean PLEASE, for the love of all that’s holy (err, Holly maybe?): let us start all races at Level 10 and skip the tutorial levels if we have a million characters already.

Doing the island for the 100th time is very, very, very boring.

Nameplate UI rework when?

So we want all communication to just move to discord if it isn’t “:)”?

I wonder if this means that all of the endless threads about WoW 2.0 being right around the corner will fizzle? Given that until The Worldsoul Saga was announced tons of people were convinced the expansion following what they were currently playing would always be would be in the Emerald Dream leaves me highly skeptical.

It was already said it’s launching with Midnight.

I have been reading about WoW 2.0 since Cataclysm changed the map.

That is the same as “WoW Killer” MMO’s. It will never go away lol

or maybe…they’re not sure if theyll have to push it back.

Well, brace yourself. The Worldsoul Saga only gave those believing in a WoW killer a three-expansion buffer with almost 5 more years to ring the doom bell.

They switched from the original system to one based on the Communities UI. This included dumbing down the permissions options for guild leaders so instead of having granular permissions we now have “is officer”. Part of this process also introduced a bugged roster (try being in a fairly large guild, sorting by, well, anything, and then see what happens when someone logs in or out … the “sort” just rearranges itself). This also has a knock-on effect on the calendar (which isn’t fit for purpose for most of us). The guild finder is also bugged.

Agreed - some of those are simply bugs that were accidentally introduced/created and have never been fixed (we’re talking years), but others were deliberate.

More recently, back around the time TWW launched, a lot of guild vaults basically got emptied by a bug. Blizzard apparently, eventually, fixed the bug (although there is still the occasional “new” report popping up), but never returned the missing items - so guilds were left hugely out of pocket.

There are still issues with guild vaults not working - battle pets in guild vaults showing purely as “cages” so you don’t know what pet is in it; gear showing incorrect stats and BoP until you remove from the vault.

Then there are people who are getting their guild rep reset. Sometimes multiple times. These are people who have been regular players, have not left the guild, and just randomly they lose all their guild rep.

A lot of this has been on the go for half a year or, in some cases, many years.

Sure - they’ve introduced some stuff … like cross faction guilds and cross realm guilds, but even this isn’t fully functional - you can’t apply to join a guild using the guild finder, for example, if you’re not the same faction as the guild. Not without having to do a strange workaround using a community, first.

It’s a bit sad that even the top heads of WoW are aware of how shafted and disregarded roleplayers are that they put in a cheeky “gasp!” at the mention that they might actually want to add some features for that.

So, hopefully they’ll listen to the roleplayers about the glaring limitations the housing concept reveal has, or they’re just going to be wondering why all the RPers are standing around RPing in empty apartments in updated Silvermoon in Midnight versus their new zug zug orc neighborhood the devs worked long hard hours over. Sometimes, a feature doesn’t have to be for everyone, like how Delves, Raids, M+, PVP etc. isn’t.

give us the 11.1 release date, its such bs that you give it to the rwf people but dont let us know ahead of time. we like to take time off work for a season start and that doesnt happen like a flip of a switch, some people need to coordinate time off and dont just get it because they ask for it if its not done weeks in advance

thanks, when is that?

What they say and do are totaly different

Appreciate the insights & lessons learnt.
Would be great if some time & focus could be spent fixing the support process…it’s a nightmare…not sure which is worst, the copy paste responses from the suport that don’t even align with the issue reported or the standard we can’t help with that you need to put in a bug report so it can fall into the unknown & never be heard of again
Just 1 example of this… warband bank tab options unable to change or reset after initial selection that has & is still being “bug” reported since July 2024
