A Way To Put The Lore Forward

I feel like the game as become so big, it’s practically impossible for new players to understand the story properly. So here’s my idea of how it could be done to make the story, old and new, shine.

Before y’all scream, I know this is impossible because of the amount of time and money it would require. There are also lots of questions left to be answered on how certain thing would work, were something of this scale be implemented in the game. But I just wanted to dream a bit and know what you guys would think of a system like this.

Chapters

  • Each expansion are now known as ‘Chapter’.
  • All zones from previous expansion are visually revamped (Those requiring one).
  • Added voice line for the Main Quest.
  • Quest/dialogue/item/etc. are adjusted to reflect current lore.
  • New feature: Lorebook
  • The Lorebook is where players can find all information related to an expansion such as description of characters, mobs, location and the general story of the chapter. As the player plays and explore the chapters, the Lorebook will expand with new information and fill in the Hourglass to gain rewards:
  • 25%: Pet related to the chapter
  • 50%: Class weapon cosmetic related to the chapter
  • 75%: Class armor cosmetic related to the chapter
  • 100%: Dragonriding mount related to the chapter
  • One would be required to finish all the Main Quest, Side Quest and explore the whole map to unlock be at 100% progress. Basically, doing 100% of the story content of the expansion.

Adventures

  • All of Azeroth is revamped with new assets, quests and stories. (Draenor, Shadowlands and Outland are now only accessible during Chapters)
  • To not keep the zones stuck in time, there are now ‘Adventures’ that act as mini expansion. They take place every 4-6 months and affect 2-3 zones. Telling a contained story and updating the zones as they go.

Cavern of Time

  • Cavern of Time is completely revamped. This is where you access each Chapters. Being in a chapter now acts like being in an instance that you can come back to anything. You cannot leave the Chapter’s regions while in it. (Ex: You can’t go to Northrend if you’re doing Pandarian)

Warcraft

  • Oh and while we’re at it, I would redo Warcraft 1,2,3 and their expansion in 1 single game (each content downloadable separately like Halo MC Collection). Lore adjusted to reflect the current one. More cinematic and in-game cutscenes. Current voice actors.

So, would you guys love to see something like that?

Basically just an upgraded Achievement Pane, this would be both easily doable and quite effective for players wanting to learn bits and pieces while playing.

This is basically Chromie Time, but more restrictive and annoying to access.

This might’ve been doable had Warcraft 3 Reforged not flip-flopped it’s goals into oblivion.

  1. this game doesn’t really get new players anymore

  2. I think you’re selling people rather short. You can get what you choose to get.

  3. Most players were never that interested in the first place.

Really?
I feel the story has become so dumbed down …
Especially with class lore. :pensive:

Chronicles’ was essentially that, and worked pretty well for the most part / majority of players — Also helped new players with the first statement I quoted from you.

However, the incompetent devs & writers of Shadowlands decided to retcon all of those to shoehorn their terrible BS so called ‘writing’ into the story. :unamused:

Hoping they retcon a whole heap of their grand retcons / pose it off as a grand lie to throw off the heroes (players) at the time, and revert much back to how it use to be. State that ‘The First Ones’ are just Titans as well but their own pantheon from far off in the cosmos who genuinely thought they were the first ones before meeting the pantheon we know of closer to our world.

What we need I think is a more of a “story thus far” or “book of lorath” style summary.
