A Vote for Legacy Servers

I would love nothing more than to progress through World of Warcraft again as if starting from its original release. To earn things on characters I wasn’t able to the first time: e.g. the MoP Cape, mage tower artifact appearances, etc.

Ideally, there would be legacy servers for each expansion. Players would be allowed to purchase a “one way” server transfer for their character through each: allowing them to progress through past content, at their own pace, as if it were current.

I know it’s only been a few days since the release of classic. But I want you to know I am thoroughly enjoying it. Obsessing over it as if it were a new expansion. Knowing there could be other expansions re-released would go a long way to continue the motivation.

I would be happy to pay for the privilege: the progressive server transfers, repurchase store items, even a second subscription. You’re my hobby World of Warcraft, I’d love to relive the experience, take my money please! Surely I am not alone in this, right?

(You just know the first response is gonna be, “yes…you are.”)

Calm down, enjoy the experience you have now before it passes you by. When Nax is on the horizon then it would be a good time for this kind of discussion. It’s way too early to even be thinking about this because the initial hype hasn’t died down yet.

Just stop. All you nostalgia junkies got your classic. Its time to just be silent for like 5 seconds.

Cool, as long as those servers don’t affect retail.

Don’t need a bunch of tourists going through Classic to get their AQ mounts or ninja some retired transmogs.

One of the nice things about Classic is there are no achievements - you do things because you like to do them, not for shiny treats of some kind

I’m confused because you put “Legacy servers” when we just got Classic, so in reality you’re asking for progressive servers based on what you said in your post, which might be happening if there’s enough interest for Blizz to have TBC servers.

This is the power of Made in Heaven

It hasn’t even been 48 hours.

Open a MoP server, I am so there.

So no, you AREN’T alone!

It seems like wow has too many servers anyway. Why not lock a few of them down for expansion revisits? I don’t think it’s a horrible idea.

If SOE can pull off Progression servers in Everquest, Blizzard can absolutely pull it off in WoW.

Blizzard made a bunch of servers back in WoTLK due to the fact that so many people where having queue issues and also overcrowded zones.

That was back when we had 12 million+ subscribers. Now there is only one million with the same number of servers so that is why there seems to be too many. Blizard began to merge servers using CRZ then later did it to the battlegroups. Servers like Scilla for example were so dead that you could go in entire day without seeing an entire person in world or in any chat. So Battlegroups became merged. It is way to risky to delete those extra servers.

Yeah it won’t be the same, because you’re expecting it. Trying to relive something is not nearly as enjoyable as when you first experienced it when it was fresh.
