A very troubling issue with racials

Hi good day.

I’ll cut to the point, I feel very weak as a blood elf because of how arcane torrent works at the moment. I feel very “forced” to become a void elf because the racials are clearly superior.

Most of the time, the 1 beneficial effect I remove from the person is not even something I intended to remove. It is very random & does not feel good at all. Compare that to having a “juke blink” not a real blink from void elf, it’s so much better, would you rather have a unreliable dispel which you don’t even know what you removed most of the time or a “juke blink” you can use to deceive your opponent and get to safety.

Top that off with a 5% dmg buff for 12 seconds, compare it to a 1% permanent increased crit chance, which would you choose? Answer is again blatantly obvious.

I really love blood elf & want to carry on playing it but the random dispel + the little bit of runic power I get from it is just not even close to the power level of a void elf. I’m NOT asking for a nerf on void elf, I’m humbly requesting for a buff for arcane torrent. E.g change it back to a silence, the current random dispel is near useless & most people use it mostly to gain resource instead of trying to dispel something. If adding silence feels too strong, how about not making AOE instead & single target if you guys feel that way.

But for me, a AOE silence like in the past would be most ideal. Else I clearly feel inferior as a blood elf if nothing can be done. I believe it was said that devs intended for people to play the race they want to play not because of the racials, if that is really the case, reality is, racials are still a very big concern and this here example shows it. Thank you for listening to me.

Yes, Forsaken.

I, too, feel ripped off not having cheaper transmog options.

Unfortunately my transmog doesn’t really work too well with the forsaken. But in all seriousness, I hope this gets addressed :frowning:

Blizzard likely won’t make blood elves a more attractive race option than it already is.

For sure you aren’t getting old arcane torrent back.

Give Mana Tap back.

You get 20 ruining power.
And it’s 1 from all enemies.

It’s pretty powerful to get 20 ruining power. Especially when you’re fighting range or need an emergency Death Strike.

What? The void elf has a teleport with a travel time. You can walk faster than it. Blood elves have an infinitely more useful racial. Have you ever done underrot? Those skeletal guys that cast bone shield, you can dispel that with your racial. Every done shrine of the storm? That one guy that casts protective shield you can dispel that, mending rapids also dispellable (I think). Waycrest manor same deal.

They both barely matter. Also it is not obvious because the 1% crit chance is always active compared to a vague buff that you have no idea of the proc rate.

If you are talking about pvp the blood elf racial will shine again in shadowlands when all these passive buffs from essences go away.

Honestly playing as my blood elf demon hunter I felt so much more useful than my main, this guy. I could purge a bunch of buffs off my enemies all the time in m+ its great.

PVE standpoint, I can see how you might think it works. PVP standpoint you obviously have to go void elf, how many times do you find other players stacked together & you pull off a RANDOM dispel on their millions of beneficial effect currently happening? How useful is it? Answer is, it is not useful AT ALL most of the time.

Most of the time when you try to dispel, it’s only on a single target, pvp standpoint. You can rarely find people stacked & also at the same time find the crucial moment to dispel. Thing is the dispel removes something you don’t intend to most of the time too…

Also, the teleport with a travel time you mention, that I can walk faster than it, the whole of it is how you use it. You can send the thing off in a different direction & run the opposite direction to juke the other player, it is INCREDIBLY powerful in the hands of a master. On the other hand, what about arcane torrent? It is depressing.

Okay. Again. I’m going to come off as smarmy, but that’s not the intent…

People actually pay attention to racials? I literally just pic a race/class combo because it seems cool in my head. I made a panda DK because I knew it would annoy people.

Pandas can never be annoying!

Its true. You are all truly the best of us.

Racials are negligible. Stop worrying about it.

I would be relieved if that truly is the case.

Both void elves racials and blood elves racials are one of the best, I don’t think there’s anything to ramble about those.

Worse racials for me are anything that’s not berseking for darkspear trolls and maghar orcs terrible racials or nightborn racials (that slow is just terrible) moreover if you’re not a caster.

Single target silence of the closest enemy would be fine by me. AOE silence is definitely too strong.

Racials are just kind of a “bonus” for me most of the time… like oh I can dispel all poisons occasionally? Neat!

I can’t imagine rolling a character for a specific racial.

Not dispels on all poisons, only ONE random dispel which you may not have intended to remove from the person.

I will say arcane torrent is slightly weak in pvp right now due to all the other passive buffs players can have on them. However, when those go away with essences it will be quite strong. The most recent buff is the one that is purged if I am not mistaken so being able to purge a combustion or more useful a Blessing of Protection can sometimes change the outcome of a fight.

But how useful is that for someone that isn’t a caster to create distance? As a dk you can only heal when fighting so it is only useful if you are planning to run away. It might be fun to juke someone off a cliff with it and teleport back up but thats as much use as I can see it having as a melee. It provides no combat benefits only helps you not die in a losing fight (for melee).
