I’d say they’re more likely to go far in Classic because they aren’t wiping constantly. They’ll be joining groups that actually get content done.
Yes it does. they are the type of people that will leave if you wipe.
You clearly don’t know what min/maxing is.
That logic does not follow because they don’t get to bring their overpowered retail characters over here. What they’ll need instead are skill and patience, things retail stopped requiring a long time ago.
I think it’s the people with skill that are more likely to be impatient with those who do not, actually.
And you don’t really need patience to kill bosses unless you’re doing progression.
The kind of person who would leave a group after a wipe is likely doing so because they don’t want to waste their time struggling in content they shouldn’t be struggling in, e.g. content they’ve already cleared.
This is especially true of raids, where if you get locked to a single boss, that’s your raid ID for the week. You can’t just join another group to get the other bosses if that group fails, so people would rather join a group that is capable of actually clearing the content.
I know that people that min max on classic are very toxic elitists that will leave if you wipe on something they think is easy.
I think you’re exhibiting an exceptional level of toxicity right here.
One’s tendency to min/max is not relevant to the issue of whether they are willing to stay in a group after a wipe, nor is it related to any supposed elitism.
Elitism is the belief certain people are deserving of special treatment by virtue of their superiority. A person who min/maxes does not necessarily believe themselves to be superior, let alone deserving of special treatment.
And wanting to minimize one’s own weakness while maximizing strengths is not at all related to their tendency to leave a group after a wipe. A group could be entirely comprised of min/maxers, and still wipe. See: world first guilds.
Would they all leave the group when they wipe? No, because the two things are unrelated.
Min/Max is a term that means minimizing your weakness and maximizing your strength.
Unless you’re somehow arguing that leaving groups is their strong point i’m going to have to agree with the other fella…you had no clue what it meant before reading this.
This didn’t become a problem until the Dungeon Finder came out, especially when Halls of Reflection came up. It’s why I’m looking forward to classic, you know your getting a dedicated group who wants to stay for the dungeon.
Have faith in your community. With normal sized single server communities, people that bail on their groups get a bad reputation. In extreme horrible cases you would let trade know, trade puts that person on ignore, problem solved.
This is how we used to do it, it will be this way again. There is nowhere to hide in a single server community.
The fun ones are when the perpetrator tries to defend himself and trade eats him alive, I’m sure you’ll see it. It goes both ways ofc.
To be honest with how gamers deal with issues nowadays.
I wanna to see… if we will see more “fake” Real Disconnects. It would happen back in the day all the time… always had them 1-2 players that would just be like “ohhhh… it went out…” next day"Ya it was out all night until now."
You can’t just stop a 40man raid… when 1 drops, I think guilds will have to watch out for “Main Tanks”, and make sure they are not a flaky player. Sure most guilds will be ok… but ya…
I only played vanilla for six months, but one thing I do remember is your reputation is EVERYTHING.
In vanilla, my guild was looking for another guild to merge with. We turned down a really good guild’s offer to merge because they had ONE player that threw a fit and left in the middle of a group. That person only did it one time that we were aware of, but it was so well known that we wouldn’t even merge with their guild.
It was my very first lesson on how much reputation means and I never forgot it.
