A Thanks, and a Proposal

Wow. It’s been a day, Wyrmrest Accord. It has been a day. For those unaware of what went down, there’s several threads about it, but basically: Blizzard listened. They heard what RPers had to say, and they made a change in response to it.

First of all, I want to thank Tammya, on behalf of my entire guild. Your addon made what we do possible, and we felt its loss very severely. It was a very depressing few days in our Discord. Throughout this entire thing, you presented yourself with nothing but civility, intelligence, and maturity. That alone, is worthy of admiration. On top of that, you spearheaded the movement to bring back the addon we all loved, and you did it in a way that made people listen.

I also want to thank every single person who spoke up and got Blizzard’s attention. That many people, working together, effectively, on the internet… it’s something that should be acknowledged and praised. Every single one of you should be proud. I’ve never felt more secure in thinking that the RP community in this game, no matter the server, is a strong one. Not perfect. But when the chips were down, we came together. That says it all I think.

Now, for my proposal! Today, Blizzard directly addressed roleplayers, and made a change in our favor. Some may say it was too little too late, but this entire event has shown that civility and maturity, and POSITIVITY yield results. I was losing my optimism about the future of this game, and roleplay in it, this week. The Sha of Despair wormed its way into my heart! But today, Chi-Ji returned to us all, and we saw hope. Hope that we do matter to Blizzard, and maybe not all is lost! :fist:

That is why I propose that December 14th forever be known to the RP community as Red Crane Day. The day we remember that being on the internet doesn’t mean we can’t come together and make a difference!

When I saw that question pop up in the Q&A I was literally SO excited. While I don’t have a xfaction guild, Waylight Outreach is a xfaction community and when we heard the initial news we were just as bummed and frustrated- yet we tried to keep our hopes up.

And then today, we got to see all those hopes come to fruition, and I could not be more excited and rejuvenated to get back into this game (beyond RP and weekly raid night), if only to keep my stocks up! I literally cannot wait to do more with the Outreach and the server at large with this solution.

So yes, absolutely a thanks to EVERYONE who made this all possible. I think you said it perfectly well, and I totally am for Red Crane Day.

They broke something, and then gave us a goldsink with far less functionality as an “our bad”. I reserve judgement til we see if this is just a short term band aid, or their idea of an actual fix.

And before that, some people were insistent we were wasting our time asking for anything at all.

And when Tammya fixes Cross RP, I’m sure to some people that won’t matter either. Can’t let pessimism drag you down, that’s what today has taught me. A positive outlook does matter. We got an item added into the game on a day’s notice, when people said we wouldn’t be acknowledged at all. That’s something to be proud of and excited about, and nothing is going to change that

When someone knocks my t-bone to the floor, then squirrels up some dollar menu as an apology? They don’t get my thanks for their effort.

Okay

I’m stoked about this, personally. 30g isn’t much, even if you stack up quite a few of them, for an hour of cross roleplay. It’s a step in the right direction.

It’ll be ideal if the CrossRP developer can work around the emote thing, which was a weird oversight.

If we can buy growth potions, we can buy cross-faction communication potions.

Ephie is gonna be broke …

… And so am I.

I’m just happy this is a thing, to be honest. It’s a step in the right direction, regardless of what any naysayers have to say about it.

It means they’re -willing to entertain the notion- and are aware that we exist. Furthermore, it means they’re still willing to listen to us. If we don’t mess this up royally, we might even be able to get it improved as Zandrae suggested - sending in bug reports to let them know that the emotes aren’t working on it.

It really is great to see Blizz care about the RPers.

I’m 100% on board for Red crane day. I’m very hopeful for the future too!

Amen. This was only a hotfix solution but it shows they care enough to add the functionality in the first place.

That means later down the road we might be able to convince them to do more.

I mean its nice to have I suppose. Just needing a potion for cross faction talk is a nice bonus but its still a pain in the butt that we lost /e support from what I’ve read.

The creator of Cross RP is actually working on restoring functionality using the potion as a base. I’m not a genius like her, so I have no idea how it works, but evidently there’s a path that allows it now. So consider the potion a sort of band aid while we wait, I suppose? Still, I’m very impressed they reacted as quickly as they did.

Wait, kind of an off-topic question I think but since Cross-RP doesn’t work does that mean we can’t see RP profiles cross faction again too?

You can see TRP profiles cross-faction if they are a BNet friend.

I am all for this, sign me up for Red Crane day. <3 And it was really heartening to see all the support that it got, and while we didn’t get a blue post in that thread, they definitely delivered a powerful message that people actually listen to us.

Furthermore. From what I had heard, there is another person to thank for this as well. Questifier on tumblr. This person actually went to Ion and let him know of the issue. I really really really would like to give a huge shout out to them(I’m not entirely sure who they are on here) But I’m not sure it would have as much of a spotlight if they hadn’t intervened. So thank you so much Questifier!
