A "Stay at home" Class

I think 12 classes 3 specs average is long enough, how bout a “stay at home” class, something with lore like “Miner dwarf or nerd science boon elf”

They have little fighting capabilities beyond defensive / evasive and probably basic dps for leveling purposes.

Their main skill would be

  1. Gatherer Spec : Fast mine/herb by nature, faster dismount, translocation
  2. Crafter Spec : Bulk crafting, 4 crafting profession Cap, Special “laboratory” compound where they experiment and have all basic mats vendor nearby. Probably have a few traits like able to Transmute (at a heavy tax) rare old content mats (Wear bear woolies). Could be gated with a heavy gold requirement to balance it.
  3. Raid Support spec : Acts as “field vendor + Medic” with repair/re spec/re talent/bank. Doesn’t count towards difficulty cap. Role could be given to bench players in raid. Casual players // carry can offer their services for an amount of money to help the raid. A certain percent of the Repair cost would go into the class’s purse
  4. They start with basic abilities, but expand their knowledge along with their experiences. E.g. Craft 1000 Rare item to get discount, Mix 10000 Flask for rank 3, repair ally’s armor 1000x for rank 3 etc.
  5. Put them on a different achievement climb to buy recipes (used to be reputations but they’re not adventurer class" and have some unique for their class recipes. E.g. Craft “X” amount of “X faction recipes” to increase reputations.

It’ll be like a mini progression game that doesn’t involved slaying dragon, just need to stay at home and buy/craft/sell enough gold to make your character uber via brain power and craft your way up in the world.

Probably throw a few “Epic quality” that can only be crafted by Max Level crafter class. Throw a nice title on top of it. The higher you climb the nerd ladder the better your perks and the more sought after by everyone else you’d be. Kinda like profession in the old days.

I think it’s a fun class to have, since most of us would have that many alts ready for each profession anyway, might as well pool them into one playable toon some progression involved.

Talent tree could be :
Craft Faster / Gather Faster / Craft Everywhere
No Dismount / Faster Hearth CD
Craft mastery / Gather Mastery / Field Mastery
% Discount on Materials

Skills can be :
Something like vanish and bubble
Sprint
Glide
Survival kit
Unlocking / skills
Built in larger Backpack
Translocation (akin to Mage’s portal) for easier transportation

various ideas:

  1. Have own Garden to grow herb (Like MoP)
  2. Cooking Expert (certain feast are only cookable by artisan cook)
  3. Certain “Cosmetics” improvements
  4. Relegate most basic Profession stuff to this class (socketing, enchancement, disenchant, etc)
  5. With 8 expac the amount of recipes to collect is huge, leaves room for a brand new niche

I love this concept with a passion although one thing I think as a natural symptom of this class would be the devaluing of the already devalued professions for characters that aren’t these. Which for people with many alts I dont think would be a giant issue but it may hurt new player or players with few characters’ ability to craft for gold. Altho once again I do say I love this idea reminds me of star wars galaxies in particular back in the day where you could solely play as a crafter if you wanted

One slight flaw in your plan:

This is world of WARCraft, not World Of MerchantCraft or World of PeaceCraft.

I don’t think it’s taxing on new players.

It’s gonna be business as ussual for everyone. Those that wants to dwelve in this can, those that don’t would still find stuffs in AH as per ussual.

It’s just a way to made a little side fun out of the current mechanics.

And for what lore purpose would someone of this useless class be made the general of a garrison, the leader of an order hall or the champion of Azeroth?

So… basically a peasant craftsman, then.

I like the idea. There is too much violence in World of Warcraft, we need something old people can do who need a break. Fishing could be a main profession with gives me access to 20 man fishing raids, and my “Stinking Bait” spell would stun enemies and have a minus 10% dmg debuff until they changed Xmogs or went swimming for 5 minutes.

This sounds insanely boring tbh. I’d rather watch paint dry than …whatever that is

hey now… theres some people whose entire WoW existence revolves around the economy and they’re often more hardcore about it than 90% of the playerbase.

Count me in!

Can I get an invite?
