Eventually, regular flying will become available in the Dragon Isles. And we can expect that it’ll become available through a Pathfinder achievement like it has previously.
However, Pathfinder isn’t enjoyable. It never was and it never will be.
Instead, why not make the process of unlocking regular flying enjoyable, and also tie it in thematically speaking?
I propose Dragonflight’s version of Pathfinder be Dragonriding Races. Every dragonriding race in the Isles is to be completed in Gold time, and once that’s done and dusted, you’ve the privilege and honor to start regualr flying in the Isles.
This should be much more enjoyable for all compared to Pathfinder, and it also makes sense from a thematic perspective.
Get gold in all dragon races
Max rep with every faction
Clear +28 in every mythic
At least 2 mythic kills on every raid boss
And 500k per mount you want to open access to dragon isles
A large portion of the players who want old flying the most, also have issues with dexterity or motion sickness. For that reason, I think this is a poor idea.
Didn’t we earn it during SL thru renown? I know there was that ridiculous pathfinder thing for Zerith Mortis but didn’t we unlock the four zones during season two through renown? It’s been awhile so I cant remember.
Considering the massive number of people who want regular flying because they struggle with dragon riding due to medical issues, this would be some horrendously ill-considered game design.
Hm, I guess I’m just misremembering. All I remember was having to do an achievement similar to Pathfinder to be able to fly in Zereth Mortis.
It was more or less the same thing.
I fail to see how farming reputation is any more enjoyable than doing Dragonriding Races tho. Which is fun and can be done in no time. Some people likely even have Gold time in all the races already.
Yes you had a pathfinder for Zerith Mortis . But Zerith Mortis didn’t come out until season three. When season one started you were playing in Bastion, Maldraxus, REvendreth and Night Fae. Those zones were unlocked during season two through renown. I’d have no problem with the devs repeating that with DF. It’s far more simple than the ridiculous hoops that is pathfinder.
Ohhh Zereth Mortis. My bad! Geez, it was not long ago and it completely slipped my mind. You’re right about that.
It wasn’t really that bad tho, since it didn’t require reputation. You just got it by doing the questlines, some treasure and rare farming.
Now, to this. There are a lot of people who get physically sick from racing, which is the main reason people are asking for regular flying.
I think that is more inclusive just to ask for renown and maybe the exploring achievement, unless they can find a way to make dragon racing actually accessible to everyone.
But if anything in relation Dragonriding is considered in poor design, then it never would have been implemented at all considering flying in any respect is very important to this community.
I’m also not sure what you both mean by ‘large’ or ‘massive’ numbers of people are unfortunately unable to dragonride due to physical limitations.
I’ve personally only seen praise for it in-game, so I thought maybe the DR Races would’ve been an enjoyable alternative to whatever Blizzard originally had planned.
I don’t spend a great deal of time on these forums.
Do people here not enjoy dragonriding?
I’ve read in this thread that it can be difficult for some people to do dragonriding, but I imagine this to be a very small total of the overall population. That I can somewhat understand.
But are there people who are capable but just don’t enjoy it? I’m curious as to why.
