where does it say that in the OP?
#2, like many systems people suggest, would be abused. Group isn’t doing so great, I decide I want to leave the group, but I don’t. Instead, I either afk, or I just start being toxic to see if I can get someone else to leave first. There you go. Any time you think of a system blizz should implement, you always have to think about how the players are going to abuse it.
Coincidentally, the healer was in a 3-man guild group and the tank was solo like I was and man they were arguing for the whole 40mins I was in there. An exchange like “Weeeh weeh tank you can’t pull this” and “We need this pack ”
These are bad ideas all around. Downgrade the key- something caused that key to fail in the first place, and by dialing it back a notch the group can re-evaluate and improve going forward. The fact that a key downgrades also, imho, has a healthy impact to the community in that the group/keymaster now circles back to the pool of available players and potentially groups with people that would have been a no-go if the key stayed. IOW, if you fail a +10 with a group, but your key stays +10, would you be inclined to roll the dice again on your group or would your standards/barrier to entry for the second +10 try be even more restrictive?
As for tracking players leaving… that’s lame. As is looking down on people for having overtimed keys. Last night in PF6, our tank’s latency was spiking the whole run. We got to the Margrave with about 13mins left on the timer when the latency became unbearable. Tank lagged and ate tentacle slams, while the Margrave AoE’d the group due to the tank being out of position. It took us 6 or 7 tries to get her down (with one disconnect mixed in). We failed the key that was going really well to that point- not because of L2P issues, but because of latency.
Should the tank be punished for AT&T’s crap service, or the rest of the group be punished for not timing a key? Even if people miss the timer, it is still a good indication of potential.
except you’re overlooking the simple solution to this: the group leader can boot that individual who’s intentionally afking and being toxic from the party and they get booted out to the GY after a minute.
first you say it’s a bad idea, but then ask should the tank be punished for not timing a key due to connection issues? you just pretty much contradicted yourself.
If #1 was implemented, then no one would be punished because the tank’s or whoever’s key it was wouldn’t have been dropped a level due to the tanks connection issues causing the dungeon to go over time but still completing the dungeon.
I was in a group that couldnt kill the first boss in Necrotic Wake after 4-5 tries.
I left first because I didn’t want to spend 2 hours in a dungeon.
I should not be penalized.
If you want to be deliberately obtuse and pretend that my comment was not couched securely in Option 2 of the OP, you go right on ahead. pat pat
That one is both a gear- and a skill-check. It’s good that it’s right up front in the dungeon there, so you know what you’re getting into if you’re pugging that dump.
why would option 2 apply to your situation o.O? you guys completed the key. the key wasn’t abandoned.
The difference between this and flipping btw timed 9s and slow 10s is minimal. Actually you would get less gear by spamming slow 10s, for three whole item levels. Sure, eventually you would think they’ll time the 10, but that was how CM Gold worked, so… meh?
And you are overlooking this again…toxic party leaders will kick others if the key isn’t going well so they can leave.
Nah, key depletion is a good thing, it prevents spamming a key at the same + till its +15 for the week. It makes it a fun challenge that has a high skill cap so when you see someone with the +15 achievement mount, you know they are really good at the game, not casuals who pushed a key to +15 with failure attempts and no depletion.
I don’t understand the last half of your argument. You can’t get the achievement mount unless you time the 15s.
protip: run your own key if you worry about something trivial as that.
this kid is just trying hard and failing to come up with arguments against this, acts like if running a dead key is somehow going to benefit players, when in reality doing keys on time will; only can get achievement/mount with timed keys, more loot with timed keys, better raider.io score with timed keys, etc.
This is the unfortunate truth.
Simple:
Push key to +15 non stop with no depletion, pug people who are very high illvl - get mount. It would be trivialized and worthless. With depletion, it shows that anyone with the mount worked for it through blood and sweat, not cheesing it.
you cant get +15 achievement/mount if the keys aren’t on time… so no way people who can’t do all the +15 dungeons on time can get the mount by “cheesing it”.
This is what I’ve been saying since day one. If you can complete that key level but not time it, you should be running that level key until you can time it. The key degrading is just…defeatist. I think keeping the key the same if you complete without timing is the best way forward.
