I enjoy farming herbs and do small amounts of crafting. But now whenever I try to farm herbs the whole zone is stripped of every single node.
I was thinking, in the next expansion Blizz could do personal phased nodes for everyone. That way there is no more node sharing. Bots can’t fly their routes and multiboxers can’t pick 50 herbs from one node.
What does everyone think about the herbing problem right now?

The only solution we need for bots is to ban them - something Blizzard already does.
Nobody picks 50 herbs per node. Nodes despawn after being tapped 5 times.
There is no “herbing problem.” There is just a succession of threads each beginning with nonsensical assertions.
As this thread pretends to also be anti-bot, but gives a solution which would not even inconvenience bots, I suspect it’s yet another attempt by botters to remove any competition.

Uhhh, that means every bot can fly their route and get the maximum amount each run.
Are you sure you aren’t on their side?

oh look yet another thread trying to lump boxers in with being bots claiming theyre all cheating
BOXERS DO NOT USE AUTOMATION TO DO WHAT THEY DO YOU STILL NEED A LIVE PERSON TO MAKE KEY PRESSES THUS IT IS NOT CHEATING EVEN BLIZZARD HAS SAID IT MULTI BOXING IS ALLOWED UNDER CURRENT EULA RULES get over it

They’re automated by third party programs which blizzard is supposed to be against. No need to open 50 clients to play them, It’s done for you now since exploiters are becoming more advanced in wow. But blizzard won’t do anything about it because money.

Just follow a multi boxer on their route and pick the herb as they’re getting to it. You might miss once or twice but generally you’ll take one of their picks per node.

I’ll never get zin’anthid at this rate xd

well the same can be said about AH addons too since it has a 1 click button to mass list several items at once but guess what Blizzard has no more issues with it than they do multi boxing since you still have to enter a command in person to make the addon work unlike bots which are full automated ergo botting =/= to boxing
stop trying to hammer a square peg in a round hole and claim its going to fit

addons aren’t a third party program unless it’s doing something that blizzard doesn’t allow, also they’re part of twitch app now. That comparison with addons and third party programs were awful m8.

The only way to competition with multiboxers is to either join them or do an activity that got better gold value for you. I do carries instead of farming because of that. It’s just easier in wow since wowtoken to just buy with gold most of the things you need. If you’re farming stuff without multiboxing at this point you’re losing your time, that’s just how the current wow is.
I also try not to rely on Blizzard for my moral values. Lot of mmos have better rules than Blizzard. It can be accepted “cheating” for Blizzard. It goes agaisn’t many of their own rules but they accept it. They just added a ruling that can be extended to pretty much anything. “Playing the game in an unfair way, or with an unfair advantage”, which they added/used to ban people using the xp pots bugs this expansion.

How many toons do most multiboxxers box with? I’ll wait.

IF Blizzard is allowing multiboxing they should allow botting as well. Technically it takes human input to set up and run the botting programs so I really dont see how people draw a line in the sand between that and multiboxing.

don’t get me wrong few people are as critical of Blizzard as me believe me my post history would reflect that but in this case I do agree with them after all several threads of this issue have popped up and people have even posted official responses by Blizzard staff and all of them have expressed support for multi boxing since the people that use it do in fact have live players behind the keyboard unlike bots which are fully autonomous thus until such time as the TOS is changed MBing is not and will not be considered illegal

The problem with botting is the scripting behind, they don’t like you messing with their codes.
But they had a problem with addons etc. automating rotations in pve. There was clearly a player behind the keyboard. Just depends where you draw the line. A bit like how addons are permitted to do some things but not others. I personnaly think it would be easier to ban all multiboxing since it generally make the game worse (and can probably make botting harder to detect since you can’t know if a group of 5 doing the same thing is a bot or multibox), even Blizzard does not let you multibox in BGS because of that.

Not sure I’m following here.
The multiboxers are looting the same node repeatedly.
If you aren’t seeing any it is because there are too many players farming them on your shard (not multiboxers looting the same node - but rather players looting different nodes across the map).
If you dislike multiboxers that’s fine, but it isn’t for the reason you stated.

It’s phased nodes so they’re random for every character. They can’t share nodes anymore.

Good news then - ISBoxer is allowed, ISBoxer is not a 3rd party program by your definition. (btw, TSM has a desktop component) Also, see Jamba - which is entirely a lua addon with no desktop component to facilitate boxing. It, too, is allowed.
Now neither are “supported”, in that you cannot contact Blizzard support because you are struggling to add the region to deliver customized pricing in TSM.
re: the money argument. It’s just laughable. At its height Blizzard estimated at the high-end there were ~200 boxers. After follow was removed from bgs, it was a mass exodus. I can’t remember the last time I saw a 'boxer just standing around, let alone engaging in actual content. At least before I used to see them sparingly, but in a regular fashion, out doing things.
Anyway, run counter to the boxer’s route and switch-hit it once it goes dry and you’ll be fine. Or leapfrog works as well. I do agree sometimes you need 10-15 min to locate where on the route to insert yourself. Worst case scenario, note name and time, and then farm when they are not.
Often times I see frustration in herbing when the herbalist does not have a route, or will not adapt to the others farming around them. More farming = faster node pop = more herbing = profit. I don’t stress about seeing others farming, I just adapt.

Nope only solution is make each character see their personal node making multi boxing not able to work.
