Well, im not talking about Death Appeals, but what about if your char after a DC keeps autoattacking a mob that hits you or starts to hit you? Caster could cast a regular spell (or even a wand), melees keeping swing your weapons… just it till the Char vanishes, this cant be exploid and ill help a lot of ppl who got internet issues from nowhere…

Umm sure it can be exploited. Blizzard can’t tell if I simply pulled a cable or an actual problem occurred.

You actually do keep on autoattacking if you was already doing so on DC. It seldom saves you.

It is because people exploited the D/C with the addon version of it. They were about to die, they d/ced themselves, blamed their death on a d/c and then asked Blizzard to restore their toon. A super small minority of the addon users did this, most played by the rules and let death happen when it did. But for the select few who exploited this, now Blizzard sees that this could be a problem and if evetime someone was about to die in HC, they just d/ced themselves and got a free rez… Yea I am pretty sure that if those few people had not have done that, then we might possibly be able to have an exception for an actual disconnect. But as it stands, we do not.
Yet another perfect example of how a handful of exploiters ruined the entire game for the masses.

Sounds kind of like a hunter pet on defensive.
One of the reasons that I play a warlock is that if I’m DC’d my minion keeps attacking, my DoTs keep ticking and fear will keep running. It makes it slightly more likely that I’ll survive a DC.
It’s what saved my HC Bloodsail character when I got DC’d twice during a fight with one of the elite Murlocs on the vile reef in STV.
- Sent in VW and started fight, DoT’d up the Murloc.
- Got DC’d,
- Logged back in with Murloc beating on me because by that point DoTs had pulled aggro.
- Used Healthstone and Health Potion, Cast Fear + another round of DoTs,
- DC’d second time
- Logged back in Murloc was still feared, with VW beating on it and was down to ~5% health
- Finished off Murloc and breathed huge sigh of relief and went and did something else for a while.
Also as mentioned above for Hunter Pets, if Minion is set on Defensive, it will pick up a MoB automatically even if I’m DC’d.
Fun fact mostly for PVP purposes though:
With defensive mode, if you turn off the Succubus auto attack and turn on seduce the Succubus will auto seduce the first player that hits you. I’ve found it useful for baiting rogues into attacking only to find themselves immediately CC’d.

When you disconnect the game stops receiving input from your computer. It doesn’t actually know you disconnected until after a set period of time elapses that the game gives up and boots you. It’s why auto attack, if initiated before the DC, still works because it’s not a command you are actively running on your end. The server knows it’s on and continues to process it.
So to try to put in any sort of DC failsafe is to put in anything the game may recognize as a DC. That means a brief lagspike would be seen the same as the start of a DC which means it’d force turn off your casting and start wanding or stabbing with your melee weapon.
It’s why they didn’t reduce DC timeout to 2 seconds because if you suffer even the smallest lagspike the game would likely boot you in an effort to save you.
These ideas don’t really work. The only thing I’d probaly consider is a further reduced DC time because 30 seconds is still too long to have a decent chance of survival. Trick is they can’t go too low or they’ll get lots of false flag DCs.
