A small detail in ardenweald that irattionally bugs me

at one point you can talk to the dreamweaver in charge of ysera and he mentions that she recognizes you. which makes no sense given that with the new leveling changes the only way you can even do any of her quests is through noncanon time travel shenanigans. would it have been that hard to add some line of code to see if you did those quests and change it accordingly?

You’re right…

That is irrational.

wait nvm i did dragonblight on this character. now im not sure. ill check on another character eventually

Canonically your character did all that stuff. I mean they’d have to pretty much completely rewrite Vashj if you didn’t. She is practically head over… uh… tail about reuniting with the hero that killed her! Seriously, I think she kinda has a crush on me…

writing an expansion around past quests while at the same time redesigning the game to partially remove those quests. great planning there

Did you ever maybe think, that…you know…before your character was your character their spirit went to ardenweald and that person helped tend to your spirit in the wild seed and thats how they recognize you.

I’m doing the campaign again on a second toon, one whom has finished the Legion quests with the hopes of some dialogue changes.

I don’t remember that line of dialogue which you speak of, but the damn kids were making a lot of noise when I was doing that part…

Its fully possible for example if you did not kill vajash she wont mention that she knows you.

Lorewise, through all of these expansions, our character would be recognized by her. You’re talking about gameplay mechanics.

It isn’t, though. The continuing storyline of the “champion/hero” is that we did all of these things throughout the expansions.

No quest has been removed, though, not even partially. The quests are still there for anyone to do. One of my characters got into WoD without doing the intro area, still has the quest to go through the dark portal to this day in fact, but that doesn’t mean my character has never done the Tanaan intro. Canonically, he has. I just bypassed it with wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. Just like how alts do so with Chromies help!

My Horde monk has not, and Vashj made no comment about knowing her. I’ll have to see what she says when my rogue drops by, or go do SC on my other monk and see if it changes.

Awesome, but now I need to find the toon I killed V on…

Thank you nonetheless.

thats what i meant. you literally just rephrased it in more detail

You’re overthinking it and confusing game mechanics for lore.

Its probably tied your your achievement if you have the right one, it will trigger the right dialog

if theres this much dialogue variation then thats amazing. they are finally figuring out that theres no reason why there has to be a huge disconnect from the story as its portrayed in game and the actual canonical events

I mean, I joined the night fae and canonically according to them I helped slay ghuun and azshara even though this toon never did those raids :woman_shrugging:t2:

i can excuse that given shadowlands is a direct sequel to bfa and is written around you having done bfa on that character. (which you did unless you used chromie time. which is obviously noncanon)

The impression I get is that your character did those things. Whether you, the player, remember it is besides the point. But yeah, I think it would be better to alternate the dialog and quest progression based on your account history.

i wouldnt be surprised if they have specific dialogue for those things. given they seem to have gone all out in terms of questing this expansion
