A small change to guilds

Is it possible to have the option to bound our account to a guild instead of individual characters?

Since there’s a limit to characters per guild and sometimes alts get plentiful/neglected, I would love that we could have a way to have our account + selected characters count as one guild member space.

Something like that? Someone can help iterate this idea?

Can see our name in the guild roster with a tab you can click and see all additional characters etc.

Thoughts?

I’m not sure Blizzard would integrate this, and I wouldn’t really want them to, either. I like having the option of chilling out on an unguilded alt when I just want to take a break and do stuff on my own for a little while. It’s also why I don’t BNet friend people.

If your guild is hitting member limits, stop inviting strangers.

That can be a problem for permissions, depending on the guild type. Some guilds use many ranks and have them for different characters or alts.

That option doesn’t change with the OP’s idea.

But it would probably be a nightmare for permissions. And guild permissions are already a janky mess, thanks to Communities.

Thanks for catching context I missed, Send. I swear my constant exhaustion is going to be the death of me one of these days.

Here’s how I see that going:

“We made that option possible. In doing so, we also accidentally deleted the guild banks again and have zero intention of replacing lost items.”

Yeah, no. They sorta break things in irreversible ways when they touch the guild system.

Aww… I hear ya there. I hit that age where I’m now in what doctors are calling the Zone of Chaos, so… sleep and my mood swings are so out of whack. :people_hugging:

its an idea - we’re not the ones to worry about the logistics of making it work.

if anything, the guild system needs an overhaul.

Sure, the guild system needs an overhaul, but linking permissions to an account undermines the ranking system.

This just sounds like, at best, a good way to make guild rosters messy. At worst, an opportunity for bad actors to strike on any of their characters.

There’s also some RP context for me. There’s a reason Guuah wants to work for Gearfist Acquisitions, and none of my other characters would, or could. They wouldn’t have ties to them at all, with maybe a few exceptions.

I’m just not vibing with the idea.

again, not for you to figure out.

no need to create a false sense of hurdles to overcome.

Again… definitely for me to bring up as an issue with your idea.

Throwing an idea out is great. But we need to also think logically about if it can fit into such a system. Which… part of it can’t.

One thing Old Republic did was to add the ability to tell which characters were part of the same Legacy (which is Warbands, for us). And the ability to mark a character as a “main.” That’s one thing WoW could do for accounts.

I think the option of adding a Warband to a guild would work fine. Just add all of the characters from an entire Warband if the person wants that. But it would still need to be separate characters in a guild.

I would like the ability to be a member of multiple guilds. This one is mine, created back at the end of wrath. Over the years things have become quiet, but I still like having a vault (even though I no longer trust it). So I really want to keep all my alts here.

However, I raid and run things with another guild. It’s not a huge deal, we are all Bnet friends and I have moved one character there. If the community function was more robust, it could potentially be the answer. Just my 2 cents.
