WHO IS THE GRAY WATCH?
The Gray Watch is a privately sponsored mercenary company operating at times as an Alliance asset or in support of the Stormwind crown. Much like the real world’s French Foreign Legion, the group takes on talented soldiers and fighters of all kinds - regardless of their past, and offers them not only employment but also full pardons and Stormwind citizenship in exchange for their four years of combat service.
Though the group’s true patron or patrons remain anonymous at this time, their substantial financial backing is evident - and so too to is their significant political pull in the acquisition of numerous pardons for the more ‘historied’ members of the company. The company is captained by a former Scarlet named Dieter Falke, whose previous allegiance brought a handful of gryphon riders that combine with the group’s frigate to offer a greatly effective combat synergy.
At this time, the Gray Watch is recruiting all manner of soldiery - but sailors, gunnery crew, and medical staff are definitely on the top of the list! Purely civilian personas are possible and creativity in concepts is extremely welcome. All races, all classes.
OOC - WHO ARE THE PLAYERS?
In a nutshell, we’re a bunch of older players who like to write. A lot. We are extremely low stress, don’t have political discussions, and just enjoy each other’s company and a shared hobby.
While we do utilize Discord for a great deal of planning, chatter and fun, we’re a pretty ‘throwback’ RPing guild in the sense that we’re all about Site Roleplay and shared writing. It’s our thing!
With a weekly in-game RP Night (every Monday at 8pm EST), we promote a great deal of written RP either in solo authored pieces or open group RP with post after post of shared story telling. Event records, Profiles, and tons of posts together combine with in-game RP to let us share the world with one another and those we come across.
With an average age close to 40 (yes, there’s a pun about gray haha), we’re a bunch of adult people who recognize that a bit of language, violence, or smut are a nice seasoning to a good story, but should be used in moderation to flavor things and not become the sole focus. Just like you don’t want the whole pepper shaker upended on your steak, it’s very welcome but ‘less is more’ is applicable.
We have players who enjoy a lot of PvP, Mythic+ runs, and sharing the game together as well - but our requirements are solely based on RPing and writing together and no gaming expectations are present.
