Please for the love of god have your addons all up to date for SL when it’s released. I need TellMeWhen, Bartender, and MoveAnyThing to work when SL is released.

For more effect, OP, visit the individual pages of these addons on CurseForge or Github or wherever the code has its home, and check on (or post about) the status of the addons there.
GD is OK but this will fall off the front page in like six minutes. Posts on the addon homepages will stay and be seen.
Seeing how they are all free, I feel like you’re getting your moneys worth.

If they’re so critical for you, you should head on over to their pages and toss a couple bucks the creators way. They’re all made and provided for free, and those guys work damn hard.
If you aren’t going to give them money, then don’t complain if they are updated when they’re ready

Do the developers of addons have advance access to an expansion release? Or do they have to wait like the rest of us, before getting a chance to alter their product for compatibility?
Just curious.
I work for an engineering firm, and it’s always frustrating when you have a client that expects everything handed to them at the same time. The architects have to have their floor plans done, before the mechanical people can show where the air vents go. The electrical folks need to have everyone else done with their designs, so they can provide the power everything runs on. This stuff can only be done in sequence, and is never finished with a finger-snap.

This right here. I throw a $1 a month to a few addons like WA and DBM. If only 1% of the people that used them would do that it would help them out a lot.
I feel like the authors of the bigger addons get beta access, but I could be wrong.
Part of my enjoyment of this game is to have those addons. Please have them updated by SL. Please.
MoveAnything is notorious for breaking the UI. I eventually had to remove it due to all the weird stuff it was causing.
I highly doubt a new expansion would break these addons.
Blizzard hasnt stated anything about changes to the UI or API in-general that would effect these.

Occasionally, I get bugs from it too. However, it’s not to bad. I am really anal-retentive when it comes to how my UI looks. I don’t like any of the addons that replace the UI, I just want to move the different Blizzard frames and have them stay there. Blizzard really should allow us to totally customize the UI. Most MMOs let you without having to download an addon.

Blizzard doesn’t make these addons, dude. Go support those creators.

If they play the game, and have time to create and update their addons, they’re going to do it.
If the addons are that critical to you, don’t throw a post up adding pressure on top stating “what you need” to enjoy the game. Show some love to the creators by thanking them for their work, or better chuck them a couple bucks.

The creators of addons are fantastic and I thank them for all they do.
To the people who are asking them to have them updated day 1 ask yourselves, would you don’t for the price you are paying for those addons? If you want them to work on it that hard then make it worth their while to do so by paying them.
How difficult and time consuming is it to maintain and update the addon? This is a legit question. I have no idea. My guess is that to maintain an already established addon isn’t as difficult as creating a new one.
Yea i have no idea either. I know step 1 is to be smarter than I am though so I will instead express gratitude because that’s within my skill set haha.
I guess it would vary a lot depending on what the addon does and what it interacts with in game. For example boss mods like big wigs need to be written as they go through boss fights. That’s why the people in the world fprst race partner with the addon makers (or are the addon makers) because they see the bosses first. Something like a gtfo addon or something would probably largely work with outdated code from prepatch but tbh I’m guessing really.
oh okay, so i’m sure when SL launches, while everyone else is out there playing and enjoying the xpac, they’ll be busy NOT playing the game to have add ons ready for you all . mmhmm yes. sure.
