A recommendation or two: starting out doing Delves

I haven’t done many Delves - did a few when they first opened but have been concentrating on other things since. However I thought I might like to try and ‘dip my toes’ into Delves.

So I’m after some recs: what Delves would you say are the least punishing for someone starting out (or pretty much doing so)?

EDIT: thanks everyone for your recs. I’ve done a couple now and managed to survive. The one in Undermine, Sidestreet Sluice, has confused me as the route seems very confusing, I need to do some research because I’m probably taking too long and backtracking trying to find my way around. I think once I find the optimum route it will be a lot easier.

But thanks again for all the positive input, you all do a lot to restore my good vibes for players. :+1:

All easy, but the stories all vary in difficulty…my list, if I see these up I run them.

Spiral Weave

Fungal Folly

Nightfall Sanctum (my fav)

The Sinkhole

Tak-Rethan Abyss

And the new ones, especially Sidestreet Sluice are also pretty easy.

It’s hard to say for cetain. Different stories within the same delve can have dramatically different difficulties. Also some can be harder or easier depending on if you are ranged or melee.

Most find the underwater ones and the kobold ones more difficult.

FYI OP, get underwater breathing pots for these, don’t be chasing air bubbles.

Never understood why the underwater delves are deemed “difficult” unless people just get frazzled being underwater and forget how to not walk into patrols and stuff.
The underwater delves are almost the most straightforward, which should make them easier to follow than the rest.

underkeep, spiral weave, sidestreet sluice, kriegvals rest

It may be related to Brann’s AI being stupid and pulling anything and everything and then doing nothing to help once everything is pulled.

I find Brann to be buggier than usual in the underwater ones. Also the z plane issues annoy me.

Mainly I hate that the kobyss blend into the background so much that I feel like I’m fighting nothing but nameplates. Though that’s likely a colorblind problem and not an actual game problem.

Use the Kalu’ak fishing rod if you have exalted with the Kalu’ak (Wrath faction). Equip it like you would any profession equipment and its bonuses (water breathing) apply while in delves. Unknown if the Legion artifact pole does the same.

That said, for the OP: I tend to favor Earthcrawl Mines as being my first delve. If you take it slow and don’t stand in the webs, it’s generally easy. Just watch which way the boss throws his webs so that you don’t get mowed down by a minecart lol.

Underwater Delves no longer run out of air as you get a diving suit (which kind of sucks the fun out of being a Warlock) and the likes of the Waterworks no longer require you to carry the totems with you.

man, this is probably my least favorite, with the story that has the purple lines you have to avoid - but can’t clear with the little light orb.

Honorable mention to Fungal Folly’s Explorer’s Competition (or whatever it’s called) story, because…I…don’t take fishing on this character. So, I can’t even complete it :scream:

You don’t need fishing to do the task.

Earthcrawler Mines is the easiest delve.

i looked this up again, because everything pointed to needing fishing when i got to him - he even is a fishing trainer. But according to some wowhead comments, they’re congruent with this sentiment. Thank you for this.

Kind of interesting, because fishing was needed for DF loremaster (azure span) and it’s needed for the Sojourner achievement in Undermine, too - the whole ‘gold fish’ thingy. At least, as far as I could tell.

I just did one of those at level 3 and found it went well. Only problem was I picked Brann to tank and he was…umm…well he died. He keeps telling me not to stand in things and does the same thing himself. He seems like an idiot Tank

Think I might make him a healer or something next time. Is that ok or just let him dps.

I am able to jump them most of the time… preferred the stories with the flare though.

Healer is probably best for a hunter until you have some gear and know what you’re doing.

While there are some exceptions, the usual rules are:
Healers use Tank Brann
Tanks use DPS Brann
DPS use Healer Brann

If you get Brann leveled up and practice keeping the hot from the potions rolling, you’ll be good to solo almost anything.

I always use Healer Brann with my DPS even on classes that could heal or tank unless I want practice.

He never dies and unless I accidentally stand in bad, I never even get close to getting killed myself.

You could tank and go with DPS Brann if you want even more assurance, but really unless you’re trying to +11 or something, you probably don’t need that.

Start low levels get the feel and mechanics of the mobs meet the boss at the end. Then when comfortable move into each level until you have completed t11  I personally love delves.
