A really really long awkward drawn out sad goodbye to the twink community

Lower brackets aren’t separated according to gear, they’re separated according to experience gain.

This is true in a way at max level already. Everyone is the in the XP-off queue and no one is in the XP-on, seeing as though there’s obviously no leveling left to do at 120.

Were twinks who were surrounded by levelers ‘challenged?’

How is it a challenge when you die from 1 hit and can’t do anything? I like playing BGs where I can actually use abilities to counterplay someone and not just die from a single shot.

Depends. Some fights were a real challenge. If you run into good players or coordinated players it can get difficult. You just have to approach twinks differently.

Evidence of this?

Hint: I can provide evidence to the contrary if you need  Looootttts of video footage from my twinks.

Twinks hardly one shot anymore. Perfect counterplay to twinks? Group up. Have a healer. Either one works.

As I’ve said before, the people who one shot aren’t the twinks, its the flavor of the month classes.

Mhm and now (for the most part), everyone in lower BG’s are playing with and against comparably geared characters. It still isn’t entirely skill-based because of things like overtuned specs but it’s more skill-based than it was while twinks were around.

Removing XP-off didn’t remove the element of challenge. Being one shot by aimed shot wasn’t challenging, it was just bad design.

Not all classes… I grant you that, however there are a few that do incredibly high burst as twinks.

Id still argue that it is worse now without the healer balancing prior to 8.1.5, but thats a matter of opinion. A team with 6 healers vs 0 is stronger than a team with a twink anyday.

Have you encountered any situations like that?

Being one shot by aimed shot is bad design, you are correct. Therefore they need to tune MM hunters.
And people’s gear is all over the place at low levels, especially with the stupid purple proc from quests now. Someone that gets lucky can be in full purple gear at lvl 14 while another guy is in greens and whites from the same thing, and the guy that did dungeons might have full blues. Does this sound very balanced to you?

Wasn’t the twinks who disliked templates.

I made a post on these forums at the start of the expansion and all the replies were from twinks saying "i probably paid more money investing in this character, and you just want to make none of that matter by putting a template in place’… around those lines… from my memory. It wasn’t levelers that were saying it, that’s for sure.

Link to thread? People at max level despised templates.

It wasn’t for max level… It was purely for non 120s.

Agreed completely. I’d much rather deal with twinks again than the present healer imbalances but we shouldn’t have to choose which problem to endure.

No twinks (or balanced twinks, preferably) and healer matchmaking that at least somewhat mirrors endgame would be ideal.

If twinks were around, they wouldn’t need luck to get decked out in epics. They could all just do it.

Your statement is technically true but the likelihood that someone would receive even half of their slots in epics before leveling out of their bracket is extraordinarily small. It’s a non-issue at most.

I get that but that likely won’t happen.

Turns out different people like different things.

All the 99 Twinks I ran with in Legion loved templates. I still hated them, even though I was profiting through the system heavily, and still hate them now!

Glad to hear it. I’d be fine with the system you’re detailing. I’m level-twinking the same as I always had prior to Legion, but the healer nonsense is getting out of control.

It is some juicy irony that Blizzards attempt to balance lower level BGs threw them even further out of whack. I’m interested if it was an intentional change, or something that broke when twinks were separated.

Which is why in my opinion it needs to be separated. Blizzard isn’t going to spend time and resources fixing these issues. There are enough problems at 120 that have gone neglected.

They were separated.

Fine, ‘needs to remain separated’.

I’ve heard all the arguments. I still disagree but lucky for you, Blizzard agrees.
