Wasn’t it wrecked previously in Legion?
Anyways, devil’s advocate here, crap gets nerfed to the ground all the time. I’m sure there’s lots of non-twinks who had to bench characters they had a lot of time invested in.

I’m not asking why MMOs fail. I’m asking why nobody has taken the MMO(Or WoW specifically) PVP model, in which players cast/melee and made it into its own game.
MOBAs are similar, but theres very rarely casting in MOBAs, its all instant cast “skill shots” where aiming is everything. I’m talking a standalone game where you target a player and use your abilities, just like in WoW, but without any leveling/pve/ect.
You dont need to be a twink to agree that BFA end game is garbage. However, using an exploit to kill undergeared lowbies on your twink in bgs needed to go. If your community cant even hold up enough to run a bg than your community isnt large enough. Period, end of story. If its not large enough it should not be catered to.
Dont give me anything about “we do it for competition” or what ever excuse twinks use to farm undergeared lowbies. If you do it for competition, do war games since you cant get a bg que pop. No, instead your “community” quits. Why? There are mechanics in game like war games and OWPvP. Yet the overwhelming majority of twinks want to BG in non-twink BGs. Its not because you dont get pops, you would get pops if your community was large enough. Its because the foundation of twinking is griefing. If you cant do that, there goes your population.
probably because they just make it a shooter or moba instead, and the people that want an rpg play wow
wow might have killed off the competition so thoroughly that it was bad for the genre
I really don’t know tbh, I’d play the hell out of that.
My theory is that it’s just not profitable enough. In the big picture of the gaming industry MMORPGs in general are kind of dying out. Studios can simply make bigger piles of cash making mobile games, battle royals, mobas, etc… than they can making MMORPGs. And it makes sense, the amount of resources and developer time that has to go into these massive and elaborate worlds, items and systems that are needed for MMORPGs has to be multitudes more than it takes to make candy crush 8. So the genre in general is on the decline, and even back when MMORPGs were in their prime PvP was a niche part of the game. So now we’ve got a niche corner of an already niche market that isn’t all that profitable… yeah I can see why no studio has gone out on that limb.
I wish one would though.
That’s one of the more heated slices of this conversation. One side says that casuals are the lowest common denominator and shouldn’t be catered to while the other side says that if there are not enough of the other side to thrive, it shouldn’t be catered to.
Not all of their community quit. Many (not all) of the people who engage in this playstyle for the reasons you stated did quit. Some of them exploited and some of them are just waiting for their opportunity. Some of those who engaged to compete against other like players quit and some of them stick around to see what’s going to happen.
If you were getting farmed that much then you really just needed to gear better. There isn’t scaling like at max level so yes, gear is more important, so should stay on top of it.
No leveler should be told that before you que a bg, you need to have BiS for that bracket. Thats the most asinine thing to say. Twinks run best in slot, you wont compete even if you have all blues as twinks are optimized for their spec/class in BiS.
You can say that about end game arenas, end game RBGs. But you cant make that request for lowbies leveling, its not reasonable.
That has been my stance. It’s definitely not reasonable to ask casual people to be tip top just to enter a leveling battleground. It’s remedial for a reason.
There is a good reason why lower level steps in any system have lesser requirements and why the real requirements are set for the later stages.
Didn’t need bis to compete…
You can also complete against others as geared as you. Just que a BG for twinks or do War Games.
I don’t twink. Never had a problem with them. Now people with missing gear or white gear were an issue.
You are just flat wrong with this statement.
I run into levelers that are level 116+ that are decked out in dg/quest blues that easily can compete with my twinks. Sure I’m still stronger, ofc, but it’s only like 20-30% stronger, not like double their hp and triple their damage or anything crazy like your lot tends to claim.
The only time there is that massive of a power gap is if I’m fighting a level 111 in greens or something, but as juga said they didn’t even put in the bare minimum effort to make their toon powerful. It absolutely does not take BiS to compete with twinks, you can hold your own with decent dg gear and as long as you’re in the upper half of the level bracket, that is the other big factor.
This concept that you seem to have that since it’s low level bgs they are only there for leveling, and no one should be expected to put any thought or work into gearing their toons is just… bizarre. So what that it’s low level? Since when has the concept of gearing your character been exclusive to top level? If you want to go into PvP, regardless of what level, without putting any effort into improving the strength of your toon you should expect to get steamrolled. This whole carebear mentality, that it’s somehow outrageous that levelers would have to empower their toons with gear for low level PvP, is simply rediculous.
You all are in for a rude awakening come Classic.
I’m very much looking forward to Classic. evilgrin
ouch, that was painfully dumb
heirlooms are good enough, you dont even need to know what bis is to compete
I’m a twink, and have been for 2 years on this character, and I’m not even close to BiS. I guess I shouldn’t queue for a BG then, even though I win most of my games, even against stacked alliance twink teams.
Oh, and I am in
WHAT ELSE YA GOT?
No you shouldn’t. Nobody wants to go 45-0 against anyone
But I’m in blue gear!
Oh me as well. It’s gunna be a helluva lot of fun.
Wasn’t talking about you per-se my dude. I agree with you that expecting levelers to turn off xp and get BiS gear is not reasonable. That is now what me or anyone is suggesting, we’re just saying that putting in just a bit of effort will make a difference.
Get in the upper 4-5 levels of the bracket, and get yourself some decent dg gear, and you’ll be able to compete with twinks just fine. Sure they’ll still win 1v1 most likely, but you will have a fighting chance. At least this is true in the brackets I have experience in, might not be at 110 though, from what I’ve seen that bracket is kinda bonkers.
The lot doesnt use exploits to grief, lets continue shall we.
Listen to yourself, in order to do low level bgs you must first:
You sound rediculous. Quite simply its laughable that you think this should be the case for levelers. Some people prefer dungeon spamming, some people prefer quests. Some even do BGs. They shouldnt be forced to do anything while leveling. Including getting gear. If a lowbie 21 wants to que he should be able to. The brackets arent set up in 5’s.
This concept that you have that lowbie BGs are meant to be as competitive as ranked is just… bizarre. So what if you choose to stay in that bracket and want the BiS in that bracket? DO WAR GAMES or QUE YOURE OWN BGS. What your bg ques dont pop? Not my fault or lowbies fault, grow your community so they do. This idea that you have, in which you think its like vanilla/bc/wrath leveling in which levels take time and your not out of a zone or dungeon level range in 30 mins to an hour is preposterous. Leveling is vastly easier and boring, this includes getting out of bracket range. You cant put a gear expectation on CURRENT leveling. NOT WHAT YOU EXPERIENCED IN VANILLA. To do so in PvP is simply rediculous.
I played vanilla, ill play classic, i know exactly what to expect.
