Just what the title says.
This post is to say Thank You to the devs for all the hard work they are putting into SOD.
Is it perfect, absolutely not, and anyone who thought it was going to be needs to check their expectations because they are unrealistic. The game is extremely complex, and anything extremely complex means there are lots of opportunities for things to go wrong, and they will, especially when you are changing things. What makes me appreciative is how things in general are being handled, and the quickness of which they are getting addressed. I think the vast majority of things changed in SOD were positive, and the things that weren’t, were/are being quickly changed and tweaked.
There are 3 main things that make me feel positive about SOD and the dev team. First and foremost, no Pay to Win aspects are being added, at least yet. I was worried about this, but so far my worries haven’t been realized, and that is a very good thing.
Two, the devs are clearly listening, and finding the common ground even when players are asking for contradictory things. Instead of going ham and giving one side everything they want, and screwing over the other, they seem to be taking the middle ground, and giving each side something, but neither side all of what they want. I think this is the only compromise that works and makes sense.
Third they seem to have learned from previous mistakes, and are committed to keeping the feel of classic, while adding new content, as they have stated. This is huge, and makes me really excited for the future of classic wow. I think it could go so far, it could easily go another 20 years, if done correctly.
I checked these forums from time to time and every time I do I generally see nothing but negative. Putting myself in the Dev’s shoes, I can see how that can be disheartening, and discouraging and make you feel like “there is nothing we can do that won’t piss off someone” and that is true, but I hope they understand that people come to the forums, in general, when something is wrong, because if it wasn’t, they’d be in the game enjoying themselves, not on the forums typing paragraphs. People are so quick to freak out over things, because they are so invested in the game, and that is good for the game. The worst situation to be in, is not people being outraged when you make a change they don’t like, it’s when you make a change they don’t like, and they don’t care, because they aren’t going to be playing it anyway.
so Thank You WoW Classic dev team for your hard work and attention, and please keep it up! I have not been this excited for WoW in years. It’s a great feeling.
