Putting the closing statement here because people like to argue before reading: Closing: If my post comes off as just me whining, I really don’t mean it to. I just wanted to share my feelings about the amazing game we all play. I also want Blizzard to understand that it’s ok to have players get frustraited with their game, as long as it inspires them to keep playing and improve themselves. Thanks for reading!
So, this is just a little rant to vent out some frustrations while leveling, so please dont take me too seriously. I rolled on bigglesworth in the first week of classic launch, I had to take a long break after I got to lvl 20 due to IRL issues, and am just starting to play again. Obviously super behind the curve, and could have avoided this by casually playing, but i didnt trust myself to stay casual. I get to level 30, get my axe, having a great time so far.
Enter the contested hord/alliance lvling zones. The ganking is so bad I probobly go an average of 5 minuets at the most before hord is on my butt. Never a 1v1, and never a fair fight. At this point questing is super counter productive, and im better off just grinding mobs near towns. BUT EVEN THEN last night I afk just long enough to send a text, and i look back up to my dead body and 2 hord runing around it. Its not just STV ite every lvl 30-40 zone is full of them. At this point something has snaped in my brain, this must be how Jaina felt after the Theramore bombing. At this point the only thing driving me forward is the thought that one day I will return, and inflict the same pain on random hord players that was inflicted on me.

Yeah but im not really worried about min/maxing while lvling, thought the axe looked cooler, that’s why I chose it.
Well there’s your problem. Because it looks cooler doesn’t mean it IS cooler.
Jk, but being a human you want to aim more toward swords and maces mostly.

Still, 3% hit / crit is pretty hard to overlook, IMO
Added that important bit for you, because if you think you’re doing any sort of pain-dishing-out as a solo warrior before you’re decked out in raid epics, you’ve been wildly misinformed about our 1v1 capabilities.
You are also a little unlucky, as you have come back just as they removed layering, and the congestion is at maximum again.

Yup, and the longer I wait the worse its going to get, especially after P2 drops, nobody will be able to level.

I understand the frustration when it’s a completely unbalanced server - like Stalagg and Skeram were, but this is just typical ganking.

If it means anything, I’m debating re-rolling again. To a different server. Nothing wrong with the one I’m on and I have a couple friends here - but I’d like a high population server on EST. (It’s currently medium pop and PST).
The PST thing I can already tell is messing with my ping times as well as will be weird trying to find a guild endgame for “normal people” hours raiding.
I know people are chomping at the bit for it but I’m of the opinion that P2 can take it’s time in coming - I want to get to 60 on something first lol.
Same, im trying to get atleast 2 toons up to 60, my warrior for the epic group content, and probibly either a mage or priest for stuff like 1v1’s. And every time i think about swaping, I look at my /played and think about the days down the drain.

I’d consider grinding dungeons more if you are able. It’s great XP and decent money. Join the LookingForGroup chat channel - it was a gamechanger for me.
I also felt that the 30-40 bracket was a bloodbath no matter where I leveled, so you’re not alone there. Good luck!
Every time some one comes to the forums to talk about playing on a pvp realm I can’t help thinking how much fun that sounds like. Really makes me wish I had rolled on one instead of a pve realm.
Why exactly did you roll on a PVP server if you are raging about open world PVP? Griefing, unfair odds, and being ganked while fighting multiple mobs is part and parcel of open world ‘pvp’. There’s this idea that some people have that open world PVP is healthy and fun … but it’s really not and only encourages the worst instincts in people.
If you want to enjoy PVP on your own terms or in arenas, then roll on a PVE server like the rest of us who don’t want to spend all their time looking over their shoulder for small armies coming to kill and corpse camp for us for sh*ts and giggles.

Ya, the removal of layering is probably what’s screwing you the most right now. I was ahead of the curve in leveling and even I got ganked a few times. I can’t imagine it now.
I chose a different path than you… I let life go for a couple weeks to level and now I’m playing casually.
It’s going to get even worse when phase 2 hits.
