Tell me, weathered adventurers: What sort of weird glitch or bug have you run into whilst doing content? Were you kicked into the Barrens by Painsmith Raznal or sent beneath the earth on the back of a hippogryph? Tell me your tale.
No this isn’t a bug report thread. This is simply where we can just talk about silly occurances.
You know, now that you mention it, I realize I haven’t fell through the floor and “fell” midair for a minute before dying in a while.
The barrens is the default horde graveyard when the game can’t figure out where you died.

There’s a few places in Ardenweald and the Maw where my Gnome falls through the floor into a fog. In one part of Bastion there’s a pathing glitch where fleeing mobs run straight up in the air while trying to escape you. If they die you can’t reach to loot them. In the same general area dead mobs fall through the floor or run into rocks occasionally and are unlootable.
Have been reporting them for ages. Doubt they’ll ever get fixed now.
Westfall for Alliance. People used to intentionally drown in the sea off Kalimdor to rez in Westfall to move toons to Stormwind.

Back during Wrath of the Lich King…
-
You could access underneath the map through a hole in Icecrown Citadel. If you had flying and knew the route, you could fly through the maze deeper and deeper and load underneath Ogrimmar, and exit through one of the rocks in the Valley of Strength, which had a secret tombstone inside.
-
Through the catacombs on Old Karazhan you could find yourself underneath the tower, where there was a giant smiley face painted on the ground by a developer.
-
On Obsidian Sanctum you can basically double jump with a DH and go out of the map entirely. The zone of the instance is actually gigantic.
-
I also remember magically teleporting myself multiple times to where my hearthstone was after using Divine Intervention back when Holy Paladins had that ability.
You can do this in… End Time, Well of Eternity, Neltharion’s Lair, Throne of the Tides… probably many others I haven’t looked into. Neltharion’s Lair is my favorite because the path you take is more interesting than some others, although the TotT one is kind of just insane. You can also use some trickery with DH (and some other classes) to get into old Sunken Temple and uninstanced Strath / old Quel’Thalas.
Druids can also just straight up jump out of the Emerald Dreamway (the portal area of their class hall – its pretty) with Wild Charge.
Love that kinda stuff.
I suspect End Time and Obsidian Sanctum have the same huge area that you jump out into, but I don’t know because I haven’t done OS. You can get to Dalaran in End Time though.

I’ve seen a druid in deer form riding a bird.
I’ve fallen through one of the Pandaria dugeons multiple times.
And I saw this dancing forsworn:

back around 2009 an Alterac Vally BG i was in crashed (client ‘froze’ with everyone running in place and shortly kicked to login screen) then upon logging back in something like this happened:
(not my own screenshot – found via search term ‘wow corpse tornado’)
nowadays i get a ‘character with that name exists’ when instances punt me offline due to network lag

During BfA early beta when you used the flight master to travel you would go in a direct line regardless of what was in the way - hills, mountains, trees, buildings, didn’t matter, straight through them. Also in BfA, for a while warlock portals were solid, so naturally they got set in front of doors making it impossible to get into banks or Auction Houses. And there was the time that Mages’ Blizzard area was gigantic, you could cover almost the entire front half or Orgrimmar with one spell.
Beta often has all kinds of fascinating wonky things in the game.
The day MoP released I was questing in the Valley, shadowstepped a moth and instantly dropped through the world. That moth went back to its friends and laughed at the stupid human.
One time I took the boat from Booty Bay to Ratchet. Didn’t land in Ratchet. For Elune knows what reason I zoned in at the Alterac Valley battleground entrance in Hillsbrad.
There’s also a useful one, and it probably still works too, from Wrath. You can actually sneak into the Vault of Archavon even if your faction didn’t control it. There was a graphic glitch in a certain corner of the roof. If you squirmed around just right you could drop inside through the wall and get into the raid. Handy for soloing.
A corpse tornado… we need this as an actual thing in the game. If you get caught in it, it feeds the tornado and the tornado increases in strength, eventually 1 shotting all those stuck in it.
