A study of the elements:Rock is borderline impossible to do, especially as alliance due to the close proximity to Kargath. The mobs required do not spawn fast enough for the quest to be reasonably complete-able for more than a couple of players at a time. But the quest is the beginning of a chain which awards a useful trinket and large amount of XP, and is in close proximity to a horde town as well as other quests, so the mobs are contested by usually at least ~8 players per layer. The proximity to kargath is especially annoying if you are alliance on a pvp server, because it turns what would already be a 30 minutes endeavor into a potentially hour long one if the horde are in a ganking mood. The quest would require hyperspawns to be enabled for it to be reasonable, which for some reason are not enabled, possibly due to the high demand for the elemental earth they drop, which I think is a weak excuse.
go do a different quest this doesn’t require intervention by blizzard
thanks for giving me the idea to go gank alliance at these quests tho
You could skip it? Just an idea. I know everyone wants the sprint trinket but cba wasting 4 hours on 1 quest.
Would the game be better or worse if hyperspawns were enabled for this quest? yes or no?
Don’t bother engaging with this troll
I hit 40 on classic and then everything turned into spending way too long fighting over mob tags in this zone and others
got boring very quickly
The answer is no.
Then you didnt do this quest. It is literally just standing around AFK spamming tab and whatever your quickest ability to tag mobs is. Most boring gameplay imaginable.
Exactly…
Testosterone posting on forums of a 20 year old game in a way which ignores the point completely doesn’t make you look as cool as you think.
Yeah I’m telling you to skip a quest that will take 4 hours to complete to look cool.
Look at the big brain on you.
just come back in 3-4 weeks, everything will have died down
to be fair the stop watch is a nice trinket but if you can’t do the quest, you can’t do the quest. go elsewhere and come back at a later time
I did it at like 3:30 AM and I got a very good drop rate and it was still a pita. Worst quest since everyone wants to do it.
that’s the spirit get those alarm clocks ready
I did it in about 70-90, but it was a) mostly over lunch so it was less crowded than when I’d first gone the evening before, and b) I had a surprisingly good drop rate (20%?) vs. some other times I’ve done it.
The second part of the chain has a much higher drop rate, only needs 3, and has more mobs available for the drops, even if you do have to wander a bit farther away unless you want to fight for the 2-3 close mobs.
That said, it’s not really critical to get the trinket even if it is the first one most people could access.
Fewer people should do the quest, but I’m guessing their leveling guide is steering them there or they’re forgetting that they will almost certainly replace the trinket by BRD anyway.
Bro just spam dungeons, questing is so annoying now due to dance population. Funny that it could be the same later: as the hype goes down, so will the number of layers
“just come back in 4 weeks” is not a solution to overcrowding in those zones lmao
This quest sucks for everyone, horde and alliance. I was layered with 6 ally doing that quest and got ganked over 10 times by them. It’s not fun
sure it is
