Why aren’t we playing with the hot and cold part of shaman? Primer and Detonator style with a 3rd spell for full pay off.
Heat something up and then blast it with cold to cause something like a steam explosion?
Freeze something cold then blast it with a lot of heat to crack it open?
Chill, thaw then electrocute for a nice big combo of damage?
Example for AOE. Fire Damage then Ice Damage to cause the steam blast that also put water vapor in the area and then anything in the vapor that gets hit with chain lighting gets extra damage multi hit.
Example for Single Target: Ice Damage then Fire Damage to crack them and then a Earth Shock/Stormstrike to shatter them fully causing them to take extra damage for a short time.
Just a fun thought experiment. The multi element spells like elemental blast can be used as the Detonator, not a Primer so you can use it optionally still and not feel like its required.

Yea? What of it pal? It’s common… mostly common… sense that you make something supa cold like outta the freeza and drop some hot liquid it it’s gonna go kaboom!.. on a smaller scale butcha get the deal.
Also ever trying to cool something supa hot real fast you get a lotta steam and makes it a very watery mess everywhere? Well now you’re all soaked to the bone with water and what happens when you get zapped? BOOM you’re a prime target for the electricity to wanna pass through you into the ground. You get more conductive yea see?
sips cola I got more and more idea i like to play around with in my head but its a tough crowd out there.

Ok, but how does earth and wind abilities work into the mix?
Did you know that lightning storms can happen in sandstorms due to a buildup of static of the sand rubbing against itself? You could easily turn yourself into a tesla coil using static to amp up your lighting spells. Or have the stand storm above that charges a lightning bolt about them.
Earth should be reworked more to be heavy hitting but a bit of a CD due to the effort it takes to get it to move. Remember the stubborn earth elementals? I’m surprised i can’t just summon some kind of rock slab and make it fall over of enemies that does extra damage if they are shattered by the Ice to Heat combo.
These 2 can function as an after detonator attack that do decent on their own but benefit more from the Ice & Fire and Fire & Ice combo. Again this is all fun theory crafting.
Idk, this feels like mage territory. They already have a frozen/shatter mechanic.
It’s more about bringing out the aspects of these elements and how they interact. Like what happens in nature naturally already.
Mages are like Pyro from X Men. They have to have a way to generate the heat or cold and then manipulate it through arcane use like a telekinesis. Their stuff is still powered by arcane energy. The water elemental is a conjured golem basically.
But shaman’s. They are imbued with the power from within. Pulling it from the very plains of Fire, Wind, Water, Air. There has been also many times where shaman elementals have feelings towards the ones that summon them like in cata that one fire elemental hated that goblin shaman guy cause he asked you to rip its elemental heart out and said he would make him pay one day.
Sorry for the odd rant. There is more to it then focusing on shatter. I was more focused on making them more susceptible to element types based on what you do. drenching them to make them take more nature damage from your lightning spells and more heavy hitting from your physical spells like stormstrike (which only does physical damage and procs a nature damage) and your wind based abilities like windstrike which also does physical. The a combo of physical and nature for more AOE stuff if that can be worked in. Small setups and pay off instead of the really big ones like most classes. You’re a shaman you do your duty. Not have huge heroic moments like pali or warrior.
Also this is all unrefined so… yea.
