A Possible WrA Move

I am a long time MG player (with an occasional short-lived visit to WrA previously) and have felt a little disconnected and even irritable because I no longer know anyone or feel like anywhere is “home.” I haven’t been able to even decide on a main character to play. And MG does have its…issues.

I’ve been lurking around here on the WrA forums. Between the Wyrmrest Community Project and the SW RP thread on here, it sounds like RP on WrA is a little more mature, organized (all the events!), and story-oriented and ranges from casual to more serious with welcoming people. Would you say that my initial impressions are fairly correct? I know everywhere has its problems and even problem people, but I’m looking at the big general picture. It also sounds like Alliance RP is generating some interest over here, which I love.

So…maybe it’s time to start on a new path with a new server and a new character? It would be a fairly big change for me, and I guess I’m just asking if you all think my first impressions seem basically right. Because if they are, then here I come!

Greetings!

I’d say your assessment resonates with me. I haven’t really played on Moon Guard, so I do not have much of an opinion. I havent enjoyed role-playing with players and guilds (one in particular) and it was a very enjoyable collaboration.

Wyrmrest Accord has some great guilds and communities and there is no shortage of devoted and dedicated people trying to keep the server alive with events of all sorts. There are long standing traditions as well as new ones being created or refined all the time.

I hope that you give the server a good chance and that you find your place here!

Big if true.

I have every class and extras on both. Kind of seems the same on both depending on how close you look.

If you wait until The War Within’s pre-patch, you can just join guilds on any server. So maybe roll on WrA, find some people you like, and you can always join from MG if you want

Probably my most anticipated feature due to mostly playing OCE these days.

Yeah same here. Our guild is actually a cross faction and cross realm guild now. Once War Within comes out we will merge the WrA and MG ones into one. Currently we are using a cross faction community to keep in tabs with both guilds.

It will be nice once the expansion comes out as far as group chat and that audible alert you get when people login and whatnot. Too bad communities cant have that.

I mean, most of my characters are on WRA… so…

Hey there, transferred my whole guild to WrA from a smaller server, we chose WrA over MG for many reasons and those still hold true today:

Smaller, more welcoming neighborhood.
When evaluating our server transfer, we rolled roleplay characters on both MG and WrA to evaluate the RP scenes. While MG objectively had more folks Allianceside and walk-up RP was easy to find, players were less welcoming. All of our TRP3 profiles said we were veteran RPers but new to the server, checking it out, and WrA players sent an abundance of welcoming whispers and were more than happy to answer our questions about the server. On MG, just silence. It felt like we were just part of the background of people’s day, which is fine if that’s what you’re looking for, but we wanted to make genuine connections and not be lost in the crowd.

Active Discord communities.
In addition to the WCP, we have many active Discord community and guild servers where it’s easy to network, find friends, and organize roleplay. Allianceside, this is especially important because we have a smaller population and don’t quite have the critical mass to maintain several walk-up hubs like MG does. That said, if you say “hey, I’m RPing here,” you’ll get a lot of takers, even at early times of day.

Though PST, events are inclusive to all timezones.
Coming from an EST server and also being EST myself, I was worried WrA events would occur too late in the evenings for myself and guildies to attend, but most start at 5 or 6 PM ST, making it the perfect prime time for EST folks like me. One notable downside is one of our RP hubs, Duskwood, tends to get rolling from 11 PM EST onwards, though in recent weeks, we’ve been getting started as early as 4 PM EST and active till 4 AM EST.

Server coordination/projects.
I see WrA in the middle of a slow but steady change from pre-Shadowlands. Though I wasn’t here to see WrA in that iteration of itself, I’ve seen the post-Shadowlands landscape, its welcoming players, how quickly we were folded into the RP community, and also how many folks putting in the genuine effort to make WrA a bustling but unique place of its own separate from MG’s style. This is a good time to join the community and be part of something as opposed to just being a face in the crowd.

Hilarious forums.
Not a huge deal but I like our forums and our vibe. I get the impression it wasn’t always this way, that it earned its stripes through drama trials and tribulations, but the remaining posters are witty, tongue-in-cheek, and when we do have our tiffs, we tend to find some sort of common or “agree to disagree” ground eventually. Also, expect memes, jokes, and general screwing around.

Those are just some of the examples why we chose WrA over MG, and we’ve been happy with that choice. I hope you also consider WrA. Join the WCP, roll a character, and come check us out!

I love everything you described here! Makes me think WrA has kind of a “small town” feel which is what I enjoy. Hopefully when cross-realm guild stuff happens WrA will still be able to retain its unique flavor.

Mm. This is how I can tell you’re new here. Everyone knows the forums are the biggest deal.

You really don’t have much to lose. WrA definitely has a cool hometown vibe. People are friendly. Even had a Blood Elf Mage who was killing NPC’s in Stormwind last weekend and when I went to see what was up he just bowed before me and went his merry way. The forums are definitely fun!

:beers:

IMHO, WrA has become a very chill front porch.

I’ve played resto shaman on and off since Wrath; it’s the class I’m most familiar with. I just wish there were a couple more race options for them on Alliance side. Idk if it makes any sense or not lore-wise, but I’d love to be a Night Elf shaman

I feel like we’re closer to the alley behind a 7/11.

A dwarf Druid where they replaced Moonkin with a Wolpertinger form would be awesome.

One final question: Are chances decent that I could find RP if I played a Pandaren? I know it seems like a silly question, but it always seemed on MG like if you played something like a gnome or a panda or anything people were far less inclined to RP with you. But I really love Pandaria and the Pandaren race.

When I was younger, I worked at a 7/11. It was really fun the first time the neighborhood kids ran in to ask me who the man was that was sleeping against the building by the dumpster.

Well, where else am I supposed to take a nap? I have said this before, every time I try sleeping in the cemetery I end up dropped in a hole with dirt thrown on me.

While I don’t think we currently have a Pandaren-themed guild, there are two weekly events run by Pandaren in Pandaria on WrA (a tavern in Dawn’s Blossom on Saturdays and a tea house in Sri-La on Sundays). I haven’t played a Pandaren in a long time, but I don’t think it’s likely to be an issue on the present-day WrA-A.
