I could see them eventually allowing rank 1 variants of any max level essence being open to alts. But still requiring you to actually earn them if you wanted to upgrade them beyond rank 1. People need to understand that they intend for essence to be a character progression, to give you something to constantly work towards.
No one is saying every single alt a person has should be on par, even just trying to maintain ONE alt right now is a ridiculous amount of mind numbingly boring work and can put your main behind.
I prefer it to stay the way it is so I can grind 5 alts through exalted with the same faction. Its repetitive and f…ffff…fff…fun /cringe
You can do emissaries over multiple days to get more world quest variety.
“Well, come back tomorrow” shouldn’t be the answer…particularly not when tomorrow’s quests are likely to be the same or similar to today’s.
ACCOUNT WIDE AP
At this point in WoWs lifespan, a huge portion of the player base gotta be adults with full time jobs and family. Don’t just play the game, might even play on a real life team of some sorts a couple of times a week.
Respect our time.
I think it would be better respect for our time if we didn’t have to run alts to improve our mains.
I’d rather see account wide S.P.A.R.E. crates and manapearls and other soulbound mats. Oh and the guardians as well, their progress should be account wide.
Rank 1 essencies are pretty trivial to earn right now.
Most will be gained passively just by playing the alt in your desired content.
Others take a pretty minimal amount of work.
Ranks 2-3 though…
Your reasoning is very flawed. It doesn’t even make any sense. So the essences are easy enough to obtain on your main without the need to change anything for the alts, but you believe the other way around is fair? And you wouldn’t accept it because alts could have the benefit of having their essences the same rank as your main (when they aren’t as geared, etc)? Jeez, people with double standards these days. Nobody forces us to play alts, but nobody forces you to not play one. It’s a matter of choice, and if really the said alt is better than your main with just having the advantage (if you can call it this way) of having a Rank 2 Essence when you couldn’t use that time that alt farmed the SAME Essences as you for getting the Rank 3 (because of course he does have a main too), well let’s face it, you deserve it.
I’d rather see a lot fewer soulbound profession mats, period. I think we have more soulbound profession items in this one expansion than we had in the previous expacs combined.
I am not even sure you know what I was replying to.
The idea was that they would make these harder to get and account wide. This would require a player with one character to spend more time on these, just so that the people with many could benefit.
There is nothing faulty with my logic because that is exactly what would happen in that scenerio. Which won’t happen in any case because blizzard isn’t going to make these harder to get…
I see the numerical argument being made of “it takes a long time to get rank 3 of BiS Essence on multiple classes” but unless you are a hard core mythic raider, does it really matter?
I am positive my guild wouldn’t give a crap if I brought my main with a good tier 3 essence, or my alt with the crucible of flame default essence and a level 52 heart.
It just doesn’t make that much of a difference unless both toons are pushing bleeding edge progression. Most people are working on N/H Palace so I don’t think an extra 1000 dps from one guy bringing an alt is going to be the make-or-break factor.
There needs to be some kind of limit as to how much the work of one character benefits another. People are making these min/max arguments when they are not at a level where min/max matters.
Gearing isn’t really a joke - it’s just shifted from ilvl to having to balance stats, ilvl, sockets, secondary effects, etc. We need that much loot because most of that ends up being worse than some pieces of gear with a lower ilvl.
To help optimize your gear - a progression raider uses lots of external sources to analyze their combinations. Blood mallet, wowhead, raid bots, icy-veins, etc…
ilvl is a joke because the shift of importance in relation to gear has become more complex. In a way I like it - but it does get pretty annoying having to sim over and over and over again each time you get a piece of loot; especially when you need to use an external site.
If you where 50 when the patch hit and you have done islands each week and you have done 2-3 emissaries each week then you should be 55 by now. That is not remotely close to “grinding it out”
There already is. We already have to grind gear on our alts. We already have to grind Artifact Power on our alts.
We should not have to grind Exalted Reputations on multiple Alts.
We should not have to grind 50,000 Honor on multiple Alts.
Etc.
There is a line that should be drawn, and essences are that line.
At 2x paragon I am still farming spare crates:( but one of the reasons I am not averse to the calls for account wide essences it it means I would’nt need to farm crates and pearls on every alt.
I am pretty sure it takes a longer time /played to open Nazjatar to the point you get the kill Azshara quest then it does to go 1-50 ap
I’m 60 on this guy, im saying im not grinding out a second character to 60 much less 55. Thats grinding it out since u start at 35 after doing the quest.
I don’t mind the separation between main and alt, but this is another form of grind compounded on the existing AP grind that makes the grind feel even more gargantuan. If the activities you had to do to grind these things were enjoyable (so not farming rep, world quests, islands) then it would be ok, but those things already suck, and then you add farming new reps (oh boy) and honor and weekly items and it is kind of at a tipping point for people that like to play alts.
The reason I play alts is because I get bored of the specs too easily, there isn’t enough complexity before the grind to keep me interested all the way through.
So many ways to fix too, I think the core of the problem is AP and if you address how boring that is, I think I’d feel differently about the other, existing parts of the game.
Then you need to read more carefully. There’s too much daily busy work to do in this game to even consider doing it twice a day. In truth, WoW has removed all of its grinds for time gates. I’m no longer grinding for anything, I’m hitting my daily time gate and logging out; that’s across the board for all content in this game. WoW has become an MMO for people who don’t like MMOs.
