A plea for MOP Destro

Hi Everyone,

My warlock was the first toon I ever made in WoW. I loved it and had played each of the specs throughout my time up until legion.

The most fun I had was MoP Destro. It was simple but so much fun and while the numbers were overtuned, the playstyle was what I loved. Ever since that was removed and the warlock specs started changing so much, I have not been able to enjoy my lock.

Honestly, I haven’t found anything that I enjoyed nearly that much. I have main swapped like crazy just trying to find something that felt that good.

The ability to choose how you wanted to play in the middle of a fight depending on the situation was so fun for me. Deciding if you were staying single target or toggling fire and brimstone for an add phase, or if you needed to Havoc and Shadowburn for some embers back. The quick thinking the spec often needed had me hooked.

Destro now is just sort of meh with the big damage around a 3 min cd and CB taking 2 shards instead of 1 feels weird to me since we are already limited.

Seemed like in MoP there were so many opportunities to create little havoc windows or mini burn phases just with something like a trinket proc.

Does anyone else miss this?

I would love to see Shadowburn back baseline and an execute refunding shards on a kill
Chaos bolt back to 1 shard
Fire and Brimstone back baseline and a toggle again
A shorter Havoc CD but only usable with 1 CB or 3 Shadowburns.
Rain of Fire shouldn’t cost shards and maybe only builds shards if it hits 3 or more enemies.

I dont know how I feel about the infernal in general, it building shards just seems to make balancing it obnoxious. Going away from this would bring more consistent damage.

Just my 2 copper.

We need MoP Warlock back…all specs…

ROFL like locks dont need major nerfs right now

Mop is the only expansion with viable warlock specs

It’s about play-style not numbers.

It would be nice to enjoy the class again with more well designed specs

It’s 2 minutes with Crashing Chaos + VoP

Stack haste → shard gen → Chaos bolt machine gun

VoP major really gets this done. I run it with Soul Conduit so i can make use of it whenever it procs since you generally need alot of shards for a mini window to feel impactful and Soul Conduit is a shard generation machine

Ineffable truth corruption apparently works on havoc and can reduce the havoc CD significantly. Sounds fun but i haven’t tried it personally, my friend reccomended it to me.

TLDR warlocks are still fun, just gotta milk em

The problem is that this is all coming from borrowed power and will be gone next expac.
I would rather see the base design be more well designed and the borrowed power enhance that

This argument keeps being made and i agree to an extent, but it doesn’t take talents into consideration which do a set amount of damage.

Personally i’m excited about the prospect of using Channel Demonfire and Roaring Blaze again which are fantastic before the late expansion out of control stats come into play.

edit: if i can think of a decent counter argument to the ‘borrowed power’ argument, it would be to buff talents such as these so that players feel stronger in the early xpac.

honestly i feel like the devs just need to go back to the old talent system. The specialization portion could ve kept but the current talent system is not a talent tree. It does not feel like a real talent system.

Youre right. They ruined warlocks after mop.

Destro now is so lame and boring. Used to be fun and exciting. They just dont five a f about warlocks. They hardly ever have.

Getting Shadowburn back as an execute would make my day. Dark Soul as a baseline would also be fantastic. I can’t say I want them do make them exactly like MoP locks because I like how Infernal fits in. I also think the current version of Backdraft works just fine with how Soul Shards work.

Fire and Brimstone is also great as a talent passive. It was beyond broken by 5.2 when we saw Destros AOE out of control when there where more then 5 targets.
Cataclysm needs to be a target spell that dose AOE not a click and place.
