I have a strange love for seeing lots of numbers appearing on my screen. I enjoy the “dot n rot” feel of a class. Seeing tons of dot’s spread everywhere doing good damage. I refuse to play a warlock (long story) and considered picking up an UH dk. They seem like they have the ability to spread dots with strong damage. Do you guys feel that you enjoy spreading dots and watching good numbers go up? Or do you feel like your dots are a waste of time and energy doing almost no damage whatsoever?
Side note and a strange one…does anyone ever feel strangely playing a class with dark thematics? ex: spriests using things like shadow word pain or death, warlocks summoning demons, dk’s using plague like abilities in a pandemic?
You will find quickly that Unholy’s damage completely tanks when not managing your plague and festering wounds correctly. Both are integral to how the class functions, dealing a significant portion of its damage. In other words, their diseases are certainly not a waste of time and energy. Additionally, you can pick up yet another disease by speccing into Unholy Blight; this, on a reasonably short cooldown, allows you to apply your primary dot as well as a secondary dot that deals fairly potent damage in addition to making your pets hit harder during its duration.
Unholy will likely need some tuning going into Shadowlands (right now it’s monstrously powerful because of some azerite traits propping it up), but it’s always a pretty safe bet that it’ll end up being completely viable during the expansion. Blizzard may sometimes decide to ruin Frost, but they’re usually pretty quick about propping Unholy up when it needs it.

Where your entirety of dps revolves around management of your dots.
just not for me ill stick to frost but ill never push someone away from something they might like give it a try and see if its for you :3

You will completely blow up trash packs and it’s super amusing to watch.
Your diseases last a long time, most mobs will be dead before you ever have to apply outbreak again. Festering wounds is not quite as tricky as stated here. You have access to talents and passives that spread it for you past your primary target.

Psst. Dark Transformation. Also, don’t restrict Festering Strike to primary target. You want to spread it around, as Scourge Strike will pop the festering wounds on multiple targets if used while inside of DnD, not just the one.
Also, why even bother opening with Outbreak? Unholy Blight will also apply your Virulent Plague while simultaneously stacking a second dot and boosting your the damage of your ghoul, which will itself be cleaving as a result of Dark Transformation.
