What do we need to do to win some games!
Step 1: Fishing
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Victory
Works every time.
At this point? Nothing. You need to get 30+ people in a game who are actually playing the game and can follow a strategy.
Right now all you have is a mess of people afk, people farming honor, people who go in 5 different directions. There’s very little coordinated effort to win.
Add in some of the other challenges of skill, gear, map, racial abilities, and so on. You have a recipe for nearly constant losses.
About all Alliance can do at this point is premades to filter out the elements that drag the faction down or boycotts to avoid feeding the Horde free wins.
Blizzard’s solution will be mercenary mode, we’re just waiting for that shoe to drop. Then the Horde can have their cake and eat it too, dominating PVP servers and faster BG queues.
It’s unfortunate that your instant queue times are both a blessing and a curse. They make each game have less value, and many players feel safe and comfortable putting in little to no effort, because there will always be another game right after this one.
Horde on the other hand, now that our queues are going up past an hour, we prep for our one game. We look up winning strategies, we pop consumables, we buff each other and organise groups for windfury etc. Because we only have this one chance every couple of hour to play. So we put in the effort to make it a good one.
For alliance, fortunately or unfortunately, it just matters less.
And also when i played horde waaaay back in vanilla and we were the smaller faction that had instant queue times, we had the same general culture “Just go fish and take the loss, why bother trying?” It’s a queueing issue as much a demoralization one.
Just look at what horde are doing and counter it
Try to guess what they’re saying in their chat
It certainly contributes, as I’ve said there are a ton of smaller issues that combine to make this big problem. Some of it comes from the larger PVP focus on the horde-side which has driven more PVP players there. That started a balance tilt which has collapsed completely.
There need to be a lot of changes to fix the issue now. Some map changes, some adjustment to racial abilities, some buffs/nerfs to push populations back toward balance, free transfers to smaller factions, and so on.
I’d rather work on solutions than place blame and spew bile at each other. Healthy PVP is much more fun for all. Only the sociopaths really enjoy crushing people with little chance for them to fight back. We rolled on PVP servers to have rivalry and challenge, when those servers become de-facto PVE servers you end up missing on that fun!
Healers who know how to survive and dps that knows how to peel. Same as arena but on a bigger scale.
I think people just need a leader early game, I notice a lot of people just follow the masses until they’re somewhat picked off. Usually it’s right around SH Bunker, before horde go for the (forgive me don’t remember alliance mage npc name right now), but usually that point is where the masses start falling off.
I was chatting, I think maybe if somehow the mass of alliance were redirected into another route somehow, it may sway the game. Idk just my thoughts.
Thing I know for fact, like someone mentioned above is that I HAVE seen both alliance and horde win AV throughout many years of AV gameplay. So I know in some way it is possible with strategy. Because truthfully, even though most alliance might do their own thing, a lot of horde are still dying. It’s possible
I’ve seen alliance win 5500 to 1000 with a bunch of lower ranks included. You are very capable. Hopefully you can work out a good strat together. We’re all just playing the game.
The only real strategy that works is to just keep killing the horde until they literally can’t spawn fast enough. Since only 10 people can spawn at a graveyard at once, the only way you’re winning is to kill them faster than they can respawn. AV literally has no strategy and ally will continue to lose until they realize it.
This right here!
Horde strat has changed over the last couple days to absolutely not allow Alliance to cap any towers or kill any LT’s. I haven’t made it to IBGY since the last hot fix Tuesday. Horde are maximizing honor. Cave needs to be moved back. No reason that by the time we are entering the field the Horde are exiting it.
I think a big issue is that not many people know what they’re doing. I wasn’t even aware of the trinket that allows for players to teleport back to base. I can only imagine how many other players may be unaware as well. I feel it’s our duty to inform people during a match, make it known. Communication is definitely key even if it falls on empty chat responses. People are reading!
Me protect mud tower.
Me turtle.
Zugzugxd see one gnome-thing at IBGY. Send whole team stop him.
Ally needs to work together (Wont happen)
Ally needs to stop using the same old strategies (They wont, they blindly run the same way everytime making it easy for the Horde to set up Camp.)
Ally needs to stop listening to the Privates on what to do, there’s Rank for a reason. (Won’t happen, people are used to retail therefor they don’t have the muscle memory to check rq.
Ally needs to stop treating AV like a rush, this isn’t retail, Classic isn’t meant to be a rush, nor was AV designed to be a true rush.
Healers could improve a lot, there’s blatant refusal to heals in some Pugs.
Buffing at the start of the game could be a game changer, yet people don’t do it. (This is a mindset that needs to change, regardless if you hate someone or not, you buff them because it helps the team out)
Confidence
I see some high ranking Alliance that still don’t understand their class. Most Warriors don’t shift stances to Overpower as an example. ( usually the main cause of rushing to level 60 without taking the time to level properly)
to be continued.
I think you have some good points here!
People are focusing on the wrong issue. Yes the cave placement is an unfair advantage for Horde, but in this meta the much bigger issue is that SHGY and IBGY are both located on the Horde side of a choke. The practical effect of that is: it’s much, much, MUCH easier for Horde to hold SHGY than for Alliance to hold IBGY.
That said, there are still games where people try to rush across FoS. That needs to stop. Best hope for Alliance on this map is to either (A) hold SHGY and get Ivus on the map before ice guy or (B) cap SFGY while also holding SHGY. And I’m not sure (B) really leads to a win so much as it prevents Alliance from getting bottled up. And Ivus probably gonna get kited anyway.
