A New Hope

You mean cinematic in which she was betraying the horde?

You’re headcanon isn’t really a valid point.

I mean, people (both in-game and out) still count Arthas as an Alliance character, for some reason. Despite one of his first genuinely naughty acts being to singlehandedly kill the figurehead of the Alliance, and lead an army of undead to dismantle the leading nation of the Alliance. By that metric, Sylvanas is still a Horde character.

People do all sorts of things. Doesn’t mean they are correct. It was specifically called out by many when Arthas was still connected to the alliance.

If “people” are your basis for who is what factions then they are themselves divided. Personally I would think that you would tell who is in a faction or not by weather the have a current position our loyalty to that faction.

Currently Sylvanas has no position in the horde, and is in fact being hunted with the intent to kill her. She also has no loyalty to the horde. Somehow claiming that she is still a horde character is ridiculous.

She was Horde and will always be associate with the Horde regardless if she is now an adverserial agent to the Horde. In the same vein Turalyon/Alleria were considered Alliance characters even back in Legion when they did not official rejoin the Alliance at the time.

Even if we are to disregard all her new appearances moving forward, all her appearances until she left the Horde is as a character representing the Horde.

Glad this finally got added. Been pretty much no reason why it wasn’t already in the game, and could have alleviated some of the attitude that nelfs never got anything back had it come out in the patch it got added. Better late than never, though.

After 1 1/2 Years, i´m impressed from blizzards “power”, to introduce something in a game, after 1 1/2 years

I wonder why they introduce it now. It would have been much better to release it in 8.2.5 or 8.2. Now it almost seems like they are trying to appease Alliance players, and think that this is enough. In that case they are very, very mistaken.

My wild guess would be that they didn’t want to invalidate participation in the warfront before the expansion was officially over and it’d no longer be serious current content.

Well it was never serious content so there is that.

Well now i got me a little egg that’ll hatch in 5 days. Neat.

Well,

It’s not, for me. I think the reasoning is… faulty, at best. But it’s still a prevalent enough thing, for Anduin to try and make us feel bad about it in a cinematic.

I mean, the transmog was great, so I always took it very seriously.

But I agree with Sarm that this was probably them not wanting to show a canonical Warfront winner until the expansion was over. Though, they probably should have passed the memo on to the dev that just flat out told us anyway. And encrypted the quest and cinematic better (like, seriously… put the guys behind Jenafur in charge of hiding cinematics).

Not… really? Or only kinda? She’s never really been a big team-player for the Horde. They were just the faction that didn’t want to immediately kill the Forsaken. Ever since Vanilla she’s just… been allied with them out of a need to survive and to further her goals. With the potential to throw the Horde to the wayside or even turn on them if it meant getting what she wanted.

Irritatingly, I think the main difference between Arthas and Sylvanas is that that the former’s clearly not doing anything in the alliance’s name by the time he’s picked up Frostmourne. With Sylvanas, not only is she outwardly stating that she’s doing it for the horde (regardless of whatever her real motivations are), but she’s still a part of the faction and has some of its support all of the way up until 8.2.5 when she finally farts away.

She’s not a horde character NOW, but she still left all of her baggage on it.

True to form, the NEFPA show up to complain about Sylvanas in a thread that has nothing to do with her.

Amusing and predictable.

You know they eat, dream and think Sylvanas all day, everyday, for eternity. Wait until after Shadowlands, regardless of the blizz does with her the rabid NE fans are only going to get worse.

You mean Sylvanas may as well be their Waifu?

Yes, and they should just admit they love her so much, they can’t stop thinking about their precious waifu :gift_heart:

I really wish they would address Ashenvale, but my gut feeling is that they want to keep it Contested so they won’t ever tell exactly who has the place.

Also, I just love the bond between Gilneans and Kaldorei so much, is one of the story bits i enjoy the most, they are their little pocket faction inside the Alliance, more united than the 3 dwarf clans will ever be.

It’s nice, but a part of me also wishes that the worgens lore wasn’t so closely tied to the Kaldoreis’, why couldn’t the worgen just be their own unique thing?

Well, they decided to tie both the origin and the solution to the Worgen curse on Kaldorei lore, so they are bonded together.
