I was thinking of ways blizzard could help faction balance in TBC and then it came to me.
Nerf orc shoulderpads.
While I never really see people bringing it up when talking about TBC, anyone that played back then will remember the glitch early in the expansion that made male orc shoulderpads something like 3x smaller than they were supposed to be. This went on for quite awhile and even made my brother re-roll his level 60 something warrior because of how stupid it looked.
No. We won’t. A very small portion of the player base actually cares. If it’s fresh then possibly but im certain there wont be fresh tbc. My toons are alliance and I’m staying alliance in tbc.
There won’t be any Allies left. We all know better 15 years later. Writing is on the wall. The Alliance will be extinct. TBC is ruined. Dead on arrival. Let’s go home.
Not joking, I couldn’t play my orc shaman for months when that shoulder bug happened. I think it was more than 3x smaller, they were like putting a doll hat on your head. I know shoulder pads in this game are cartoonishly big, but that was ridiculous.
You are aware that you can barely feel the Draenei heal, right? Between “not that big of a deal” abilities and “nothing”, it makes zero sense to pick “nothing”
who cares about the draenei heal. people play the side they’ve always played. I am alliance. I will play alliance. Where did the draenei thing even come from?
Worrying about faction ratio is a holdover from other MMOs with actual wpvp.
The ratios for WoW have never been a big deal, other than for queue times.
Now p2 sucked because of raising server caps…which did matter as it was the only part of classic where open wpvp was a thing.
With arenas, blood elves, etc…it wont matter for pvp and eventually faction heavy servers will emerge to make your server selection based on pve considerations like raid avail.
I’ve got an alliance hunter, and she’s staying on Alliance side.
People nowadays understand that racials really aren’t that important except in PvP to a certain degree. WotF is strong… against 2 classes
Perception is strong against…2 classes
Etc etc.
I’d rather have extra reputation gains or be able to stealth, and let’s be honest, BEs are wayyyyy too feminine for any straight man to play and feel good about himself.
In tbc the human racial for warlocks is absolutely nutty. Engineering gives you epic goggles (I think they’re like T5 equivalent iirc) with stealth detection, the fel hunter gives you stealth detection, and the human racial gives you an on use stealth detection. With all 3 combined a L70 human warlock has the stealth detection of a L83 player vs a L70 player. You’ll see rogues and Druids from 30 yards out.
I guess if someone likes random BGs as part of their end game Alliance has a lot of appeal due to the massive queues Horde will most likely have. Granted, arena is cross-faction and offers better gear, but if the BG experience is someone’s calling they’ll have an easier way to scratch the itch Alliance-side.
To help balance the shoulder inequity that has always plagued TBC, I think an extra step should be moblized. While shrinking the momental orc shoulders is a good start, they should enlarge gnome shoulders to at least 3 times as they are now. Only then will balanced be feasible.
