A, maybe, somewhat helpful guide to veilwalker

HEADS UP, YOU WILL NEED SOME GEAR FOR THIS, I WOULD SAY ABOUT 250 ILVL, AS SOME COMPONETS DO REQUIRE SOME DIFFICULT CONTENT THAT YOU HAVE TO DO SOLO!

I’ve been seeing a lot of people asking about veilstrider, as to whether its possible to do or not to do, in which it is, even for the ones who started back when they made the post about what is and isn’t going away. Although I feel like the cutoff for it will be this week or next week, given the time gating involved for it and RNG. So here goes a hopefully helpful guide from someone who was crazy enough to try for it when they announced it was going away:

** COVENANT ACHIVEMENTS**

The bulk of these are somewhat passive, in that dead man tell some tales will be obtained through grinding out renowned to 80 for Re-re-re-renowned. With the simplest way of bringing all four covenants to 80 being to use the Broker Mark of Distinction, which is sold by Au’Dara right next to the flight master in oribos. Which will raise a covenants renown level to 60, meaning simply doing the campaign should give you the rest of the renown you need.

Sanctum Superior comes down to what you have and haven’t done with your covenant so far. In terms of how much anima you have in one, given anima definitely can be a limiting factor still, as some upgrades needed will cost a lot. So if you have some of the covenant upgrades unlocked, then finish it with that covenant. Along with I would target this one ASAP as it increases your anima gains which is important for the other covenants.

Shadowlands Dilettante is definitely the reason why the achievement will become impossible to do after a certain point, as I will break it down covenant to covenant to show why:

Kyrian- pursuing loyalty: This one is the easiest one, all you need upgrade wise is the Sanctum upgraded to rank 2. Now the hard part is definitely mats for unlocking challenges and upgrades for pelagos, but if you use your medallions of service to buy supplies for the path from Caretaker Caryn, the innkeeper for Elysian Hold. These will give you more than enough mats and by simply doing the quests and challenges it feeds into itself. In terms of gaining medallions and supplies. The only thing you’ll have to grind are mirror shards, in which I can’t remember how many are needed, I think its 50 in total, but only get what you need for the first quest as any extra will disappear from your bags. Then grind the rest after, and a good grind spot if your geared is the citadel of loyalty area. Mainly target the forsworn kyrian over the automa’s, as they seem to be the main source for shards. As for the order for doing the challenges, I’ll be posting wowhead links here that have comments with detailed information on the who, what, where and when on the knitty gritty things needed:
https://www.wowhead.com/achievement=14502/pursuing-loyalty#comments (Use first comment to see what order to do challenges in!)

Night Fae- Mush Appreciated: This one is also simple, all you need to do is upgrade the transportation network to rank 3, each rank gives an additional daily quest you can do with Marasmius. Just log in daily, do the three quests, and keep doing this until you hit exalted. You get roughly 1500 rep a day when you have the network maxed out, so it only takes a few weeks to finish this one.

Venthyr- Be our guest: This is when it starts to get a bit complicated, in terms of upgrades you only need to upgrade ember court to at least rank 4, at minimum you need to have it to rank one this week. As all your doing by upgrading it is unlocking guest slots, but your first court is capped at only one guest as its a “test run”. In any case I am unsure if there is a benefit to maxing it out to rank 5, the most important thing to it though is definitely min maxing rep gains for the ember court!

In which there is a mechanic with the guests that cuases them to become elated when you make your court correspond to what they like and don’t like. Which means each elated guest will give a max of 800 rep per chest at the end of the court, for a total of 3200 rep, not 1600 rep like some think. Now another thing is the guest slots are on a set cycle in terms of what guests they’ll offer, which means it is worth while when your able to try and make them match the best you can, while also ensuring your bringing in guests that you haven’t hosted before to min max both rep gains and the bring your guest achievement.

As for the guests you only need to grind out the ember court rep to honored, as grand master vole unlocks when you hit friendly, and choofa unlocks at honored, which are the only two guests tied to rep.

Necrolord- Abominable lives, the gangs all here, wardrobe makeover, it’s a wrap: This one is the most complicated, and longest one, and is the reason why after a certain point this achievement will be rendered impossible unless blizzard changes how some of it works. Which I will go over achievement to achievement:

Abominable lives simply has you do all the quests the abominations offer, in which each one will give you a superior part and chest that contains miscellaneous mats and malleable flesh. However, this is the one achievement that determines whether or not you are able to complete back from the beyond, as the quests the abominations offer are random week to week. Meaning that if you get bad RNG, you can run out of time as some of them offer 3-4 different quests. Along with being the only source of superior parts, which limits how fast you can stitcher them to see the quests.

Here’s a wowhead link with a comment that lists out what each abomination offers, side note too it gives an order to make the abominations. In which I mostly followed it, yet I chose to build guillotine before toothpick and gas bag. As guillotine has three quests, where as toothpick and gas bag only have two, so I feel like due to RNG and time constraints its better to sacrifice the superior parts profit to increase chances at seeing all of her quests.

The gang’s all here is simple to do in that all you have to do is make all the abominations, which you need to do anyways to do all the quests.

Wardrobe makeover is definitely an intimidating achievement but also mostly easy to do if you have gear, as all I did was used the wowhead comment I’ll link. To see what all the base items were for the fashion accessories, and killed all the rare’s, opened chests and so forth until I hit 25 of them. Some can also be bought off the abominations once their created so use that to your advantage too!

It’s a wrap is very simple, you just craft 100 Anima-Bound Wraps, which costs a total of 200 shrouded cloth. Which summons an event NPC that when followed goes to blackhound defense point is what I think it’s called? In any case if you escort it successfully it will unlock a blackhound cache that can be opened for a chance at a cache of spare weapons, or a blacksteel back plate, both of which are components for fashion items.

In summary and what is needed upgrade wise, you need to upgrade the stitch yard to rank 5 to be able to make all the abominations, along with being able to access all the fashion accessories. For this week I think you just need to have it to rank 2 in order to be able to max how many abominations you can craft. With the other thing to keep in mind being you need to farm what’s called malleable flesh, which is used to make all of the constructs, and some of the fashion items. A good farm spot is to clear HoA, and another dungeon, beware that drops for flesh have an annoying diminishing return, in which you can only dungeon grind once per day on normal. With another option being to join a 2X4 group to grind some out. Another side note is you will get some flesh from the creates from the weekly quests, along with killing rare’s and the like, so no need to go super hard grinding it!

DUNGEONS

These are simple enough to do, and in some cases may be soloable with current gear, as the only two that require dungeons are Myths of the Shadowlands Dungeons, just do all shadowlands dungeons once on mythic difficulty.

With the other being Fake it till you make it, in which you have to do the hardmode for tazavesh, which requires you have the passably-forged credentials, which are obtained through a short trading game in tazavesh, link to wowhead article below. I think you can also solo this one maybe with some good gear due to how old it is, yet you may need a group for this one. However at this point it should be easy enough to do regardless.

RAIDS

The only thing you have to do for the raid achievements is do is kill all the bosses in castle nathria, sanctum of domination, and sepulchur of the first ones on any difficulty, LFR included.

WORLD CONTENT

Zereith Mortis From A to Zerith:

Secrets of the first ones: Do the zone campaign, simple enough.

Dune Dominance: Kill all three of the rare’s that spawn in the sand pit, its the giant crater to the far north of zereth mortis, in the desert area of zerith morits.

Cyphers of the First Ones: Unlock/learn all of the cyphers from the cypher research console.

The enlightened: Reach exalted with the enlightened faction.

Treasures of Zereth Mortis: Collect all hidden treasures in zereth mortis, link below for coordinates and steps to unlock each of them. Also watch for the world quest frog it as its needed to unlock the forgotten proto-vault.

Adventurer of Zereth Mortis: Kill all rare’s in zereth mortis, link with coordinates and instructions for each one below:

Synthe-fived: Have to create 5 different pets or mounts, doesn’t matter how many of either, pets are typically easier to make than mounts though. Lattices are obtained from the creature type that your trying to craft, motes can be obtained from about anything in zereth mortis.

Chains of domination: Simply do the korthia campaign from start to finish.

Walking in Maw-mphis: this one has several achievements required:

Ghast five: Simply buy 5 of ve’nari’s items that upgrade torghast.

It’s about sending a message: Participate in all special encounters, their essentially rares but not rares, its odd TBH.

Trading Partners: reach “exalted”, or as ve’nari calls it appreciative rep rank with her, she doesn’t follow the traditional rep system. In terms of how much you need for each increasing rank. As the first one is 1k, then the next one is 6k, followed by the next two being 7k each, and then 21k to max it out altogether.

You gain rep by doing daily quests and doing her quests to unlock each area of the maw. Along with elite rares grant 100 rep per kill, non elite rares grant 80 rep per kill, and then special encounter rares grant 40 rep per kill. With doing the jailer assault thingy’s giving a chest that gives a rep token for her, and a quest item that grants even more rep. Sometimes you’ll also get random quest items you can turn in for rep gains as well.

Better to be Lucky than dead: Kill all rares in the maw, the convocation rares are definitely the hardest ones to do as you have to have three other people to summon them. When I did them I just listed a group stating that I was killing all three, which got enough people to join to do all of them and exos, as when you kill each one they drop a rune. Which when all three different ones are combined gives you a tablet that grants you access to another rare.

Hunting party: Do all four hunts in the beast warrens, their on a set rotation so this one takes two weeks to do from start to finish.

Soulkeepers burden: Save 200 souls from the maw, or just do the soulkeeper quest 10 times, yaaaay.

On the offensive: This one is one of the more annoying one’s due to how it works, all I can say about it is the easiest achievements to do are united front: Complete all four covenant assaults’, Jailer’s personal stash: Open 10 rift hidden caches during the night fae assault, the caches are present regardless if the quest for how your supposed to it is up. You can use rift keys sold by the archivist vendor to access them. You’ll also need to do this twice so DO NOT COMPLETE the assault if you are doing this achievement as only 6 are up at a time, but they reset daily. Up for grabs: Open 10 mawsworn caches during the necorlord assault, this one is still buggy to where sometimes the chest won’t count, along with chests are located on the upper part of the walls. So if you are doing this one do not complete the assault until you finish the achievement as they reset daily. You also will need to be able to grapple, ve’nari sells the item required to grapple in the maw. With the latter being to use the centurion to access the upper parts of the wall if you cannot grapple in the maw and the quest for it is up. Make sure not to complete it either if you don’t have the achievement! For your fourth its dependent on what quests are being offered, which is the annoying part. All I can say is a sly fox is always up with the kyrian assault, and when the venthyr assault is up, if fangcrack is up, then that’s a very easy one to do, as all you have to do is stand to the side, and kill jars and use anima powers as he pulls them out.

TORGHAST

Tower ranger: This is the achievement that requires gear, as you will see in the following requirements:

Flawless master Layer 16: Do all 6 wings of torghast flawlessly; earn at least 200 score for each wing. I found this one easiest to do in a group of two, to where I tanked and brought along a class that has a broken amount of cleave due to powers. If you are a DH, shaman or hunter you should be able to solo this relatively easily.

Twisting corridors: Layer 8: This should be stupid easy given this released when torghast did, so it’s very old content and shouldn’t require much gear, just takes a very long time to do.

Master of Torment: Each wing of torghast has a cycling set of torments and blessings, in which you simply have to see which one is and isn’t up and do each achievement component when their up. Avenge me has you kill an elite mob that has 10 stacks of vengeance when the torment avenger is up. No doubt has you not interrupt the doubt caller, an add that spawns with the final boss. Rampage requires that you maintain stacks of rampaging for 30 seconds while the blessing rampage is up, you gain blessings through the box of many things. With the last one being crowd pleaser in which you have to be under the effects of claustrophobic for 30 seconds when the torment claustrophobic is active.

Adamant Vaults: Just clear it one time when you do a flawless run, then it becomes optional afterwards.

The jailer’s Gauntlet Layer 4: This is the one that requires gear to do, as its a very hard hitting boss rush that will cream anyone that is undergeared. All I can say is you will have to reroll this a lot for good starting powers, as they will 100% determine how the run will go sadly, along with you have to do this solo!

Box of Many things: All you have to do is run torghast a few times, higher scores give more currency, and unlock all of the upgrades in the box. If you don’t have much or any of it unlocked then I would suggest grinding this out a bit before going for your flawless 16 runs. As it grants a lot of buffs and counters to the torment’s, along with granting blessing that are extremely helpful for the runs.

TIPS THAT I’VE LEARNED SO FAR, AND USEFUL ADDONS

I will say wowhead does have a guide to all of this, yet I don’t find it to be that comprehensive honestly and it’s more so a generic summary of the requirements. Which is why I made this post to somewhat homogenize some information about this achievement. Along with a few things I’ve learned and done so far that’s helped like:

For the EMBER COURT*
*You’ll need quite a few infused rubies to both restock and cycle guests, in which the best way to farm them is to simply open chests and kill rares

*When doing the ember court, the vendor next to the NPC that shows the guest list sells wine, that can be used to add a minute to the ember court timer. Which is extremely useful for doing all the various events that spawn during it.

*Speaking of events some of them are definitely a bit confusing, like the food fight one requires that you both fill the meter by throwing food at NPC’s, but also getting one to stand behind each table that is flipped over! When doing the parasol event make sure to use the extra action button to start slow falling.

ADDONS
*I 100% recommend using silver dragon, it puts skull makers on the map for rares and special events, which makes it super easy to run around to see if their up or not. Along with can be customized and adjusted to only scan and mark for specific rares and events if you only need a select few.

CONCLUSION
This is pretty much what I’ve been doing so far and learned from trial and error. I will say if you’ve been playing since launch then you more than likely have most of this done. Some of it like the enlightened rep cannot be done in time I think due to how long it takes to grind it. Along with if you simply have none of the achievements done then it may be wise to skip trying to do this all together. As it will take an enormous amount of time to do it all from scratch!

Hope this helps to clarify things, and aids you in getting you’re achievement and title!
