A love letter to WoW's Composers. <3

In Particular: Peter McConnell and Leo Kaliski.

For this absolute masterpiece of a tune. I Rank this easily among the best music World of Warcraft has ever gotten.

From the Metallic clanging of Pots and Pans, To the epic horns and orchestral sounds, and the Classic “Drums of War” feeling that follows everything in World of Warcraft.

Operation: Mechagon was some of my Favorite Content they ever added to WoW and I don’t know if they’ll ever top it. I find myself coming back to this music again and again.

I will never have a problem with the art team and the music team. No matter what happens, the art and the music are always stunningly done.

Yep! Even to this day, the Music that plays in the Heart of the Forest in Ardenweald is beautiful.

Blizzard’s Art and Music team must have some darn good Chiropractors.

Ew. I don’t. Music in WoW hasn’t been good since Russel Brower left.

Another incredible tune, The leitmotifs of which have followed significant Alliance characters around ever since Varian’s death. chef kiss

Russel Brower was responsible for some of my favorite tunes in the game as well. Including the Song of Liu Lang and the Heart of Pandaria. Which are probably my VERY favorite if you put me on the spot and made me choose.

I would hardly be so negative to say that WoW’s music hasn’t been good though. It has been incredible. And I think a lot of the music tries to carry on his Lineage.

Most of it is remixed from older music and the rest is all digital creations. Live orchestration just isn’t a thing anymore. It gave the music depth and soul. Now it’s just canned and cold to me.

On this, We’ll just have to Agree we have a Difference of opinion. There have been incredible indepedent composers who have been able to create music with a lot of soul using digital orchestration. For me at least.

this is a nice post and i agree, the music and visuals in this game have always been fantastic. i love how we have like 6 different deserts in this game and all of them are visually distinct!

music wise i actually have the boralus music, ‘malach’ from WoD, ‘way of the monk’ from pandaria, the azshara warbringers music and the shal’aran music saved on my phone to listen to at work - and who can forget the famous ‘nightsong’? hearing it again in ysera’s shadowlands cinematic was AMAZING. going even further back, i’ve loved the kara music for years - how it changes as you ascend the tower, from the creepy jangly notes in the basement to the formal ballroom to the off-key refrain in the library… huge shout out to wow’s music team for all the memories!

ah… off to youtube again! thank you OP <3

The music of World of Warcraft really is phenomenal and the composers deserve every bit of praise.
