A little venting

It’s because they want to play with with any gender they are interested in real life. It’s very creepy.

Same!

I’ve never once had someone ask me this.

I’ve also never had any one whisper along anything personal. Only thing I get are the random guild invite whispers. And even that is few and far between for the busy server I’m on. On a low pop server I get more random guild invites.

I must have bad luck then. I had a Female Demon Hunter that I ended up gender-swapping because people would hit on me whenever I posted in Trade Chat.

Then again, I was on Moonguard…

because 90% of people on WoW are ‘needy’ men who don’t want to be alone?

…also, guys ask you how much you weigh? the heck’s with that??

we just want to make sure you’re a human being and not a tractor pretending to be human

…aaaaand the fact we’re typing, and able to hold a conversation does’nt convey that?.. i mean, heck, just seems weird that people would ask someone’s weight… in-general. i mean, who does that?

obviously you don’t know how sneaky tractors can be

To be fair, you’re on MG. I also RP on MG. You and I both know people are into weirder things than how much someone weighs, and people on MG will ask it on occasion.

very true, very true. never had anyone ask me for my weight though… might be cause my rp-addon says i’m a dude irl, who knows.

I just assume people are the gender of their character, use those pronouns, and treat everyone with kindness and respect. If a male player corrects me for calling his female character “she”, I try to respect his wishes the best I can, but I will always be thinking of “him” as a “her” as long as “he” is presenting female in the game.

I’ve never had any trouble meeting women playing WoW, and I’ve had some wonderfully engaging conversations and long friendships with quite a few. If you want to meet women playing WoW, just don’t be a douchebag. If you treat female players with respect, and talk like a human being, they often relax and start to talk about real life once they see you’re a nice person. If you talk like some sleazebag in a singles bar, they will defend themselves by telling you they’re a man, blocking you, ignoring you, and doing pretty much whatever they need to to get you to leave them alone.

For all the sleazebag men who roll female characters and try to treat WoW like a dirty video simulator, I’d say they get what they deserve, because they’re almost always interacting with other men who are just as sleazy as they are.

assuming people are the same gender as their character is VERY dangerous my paladin-friend. if you did that on horde, you’ll be crushed when you realize 75% of belf ladies are dudes.

I’ve played female characters on both factions on and off since 2006. I think once I received a whisper that asked me what I look like. Never had any ask me my weight, location or for pics or certain types of, “talk”.

Why would I be crushed, since I don’t care what gender they are in real life, and I’m gay, anyway? If a man wants to flirt with me I’d enjoy it, within limits.

Do people expect otherwise in a country that revolves around sex, violence and music?

I generally don’t tell people I’m female unless I have to for raids/mythics. I’m fine with them thinkin I’m a dude. lol

in that case, touche mr.paladin. i still would’nt recommend assuming someone’s irl gender on WoW. not cause it would be ‘terrible’ but… ya never know what they are irl. they could take offense for some reason, i dunno. only time i’d recommend assuming someone’s gender, is if your making a bet with a friend… i did that once, got 5 gold out of it. xD

Man collapses in a restaurant, waiter runs up and shouts is there a doctor here?!

A man stands up at a table across the room and says, I’m a vegan! and then sits back down.

In reality I just assume everyone is a G.I.R.L. (guy in real life) like myself unless I specifically know otherwise.

Everyone on the Internet is a fat truck driver from Jersey. If you go with this, you’ll never get in any kind of awkward position.

This just reminds me of a time in AB when I was 1v1 ing a Horde. It was so close but ultimately he won. spit , looted me, etc. Moments later I get a whisper
“rekt” (from another account or something)
I said "What? You were almost killed by a 54 yr old woman, good job lol "
He didnt repond.
