So Tell me your top 5 NPCs and races.

I will start.

Races:

  1. Blood elves
  2. Mag’har Orcs
  3. Goblins
  4. Zandalari
  5. Vulpera

Honorable mention to Amani trolls who might be added in Midnight.

Characters:

  1. Cindrethresh
  2. Sylvanas (once she comes back)
  3. Vol’jin
  4. The two new Darkspear Loa

Honorable mention to Megs Dreadshredder who should get the Credit for opening the relations to Noggenfogger.

Hmm, this is kinda hard because I like most of the races for different reasons but:

Draenei
Worgen
Goblins
Trolls
Forsaken = Mag’har (Specifically the Shadowmoon Clan)

Honorable mention to pre-BfA Night Elves for nostalgia sake. Blizz kinda ruined’em for me.

As for characters:

Azshara
Xal’atath
Celestine of the Harvest
Monte Gazlowe
Bwonsamdi

Ah a friend of good taste I see. Shadowmoon and Thunderlords are my favorite clans too.

Races:

  1. Orcs (shocking, I know)
  2. Tuskarr (playable when?)
  3. Vrykul (mostly just a big fan of viking stuff)
  4. Dwarves (Mostly leaning Wildhammer, but the Dark Iron have grown on me; My fondness for Dwarves precedes Warcraft)
  5. Undead/Forsaken (should note I’ve never cared for Sylvanas, even when she was written well)

Honorable mention would be Blood Elves if they were still mana vampires.

Characters:

  1. Grom Hellscream (Not the WoD one, although Kevin Michael Richardson’s voice work was a homerun imo)
  2. Bwonsamdi (dude straight up steals every scene or interaction he’s in)
  3. Runas the Shamed (Just a sidequest character in a zone, but that sidequest remains the crown jewel of character writing and performance to this day)
  4. Khadgar (probably the only player benefactor that doesn’t suck all of the oxygen out of the room)
  5. Zaela (Warlord of Wasted Opportunities, who was a well written pragmatic Dragonmaw before MoP/WoD turned her into a fangirl zealot)

Honorable mention is anything voiced by Darin De Paul. I’m probably forgetting a ton of characters that would take a spot if I really sat down and combed through things, but those are the ones that came to mind today.

I play femorc because I like the voice and model, but lorewise… I don’t know it’s alright I guess.

Still, I just LOVE the Forsaken. Their aesthetic and maniacal weirdness just speaks to me, but the super bad hunch and small frames are a turn off for me to play as one, sadly. Taurens are gentle giants, a trope that I love to death. Zandalari are ancient trolls with dinosaurs that live around an aztec-themed zigurat. That’s the most rad thing I’ve seen in a while. Night Elves have some amazing background lore and world building but OH MY GOD THEIR FANBASE IS OBNOXIOUS AT TIMES. Were I to play Alliance I’d 100% play a nelf.

Honourable mention to Worgens because they are werewolves, that’s cool enough to make me overlook them being British.

As for NPCs…

1- F* it, Sylvanas.
2- Vol’Jin
3- Kel’Thuzad & Arthas
4- Nathanos (you might be starting to see a pattern here)
5- Weaver and Executor Nizrek

So… I might have a slight case of being a terminal edgelord. I love the undead in general. Sylvanas has always been my sweetheart ever since I played WC3, so did Arthas and KT. They are all morally hideous characters but I can’t help but to love them for that. People give Nathanos a lot of flak but I liked his sass and how he didn’t shower us in praise for doing the most menial tasks. Dude was unapologetically an ahole and I can respect that. I was genuinely sad when he died.

Weaver and Nizrek are newcomers but I love them to death already. I like how the Weaver is a massive schemer but also loyal to the queen no matter what. I like a thief with honour. And the way she calls me ‘morsel’ tickles me the right way. Nizrek is a sassy mofo and I love him for that.

Honourable mention to my homeboys Anubarak and Rexxar!

I do like the majority of the races for one reason or another, but if I HAD to list just five….

  1. Draenei
  2. Worgen
  3. Vulpera
  4. Void Elves
  5. Mag’har Orcs

As for NPCs, man, there a TON of NPCs I absolutely adore. I made a list once before this is always fun.

  1. Sylvanas
  2. Genn Greymane
  3. Nathanos
  4. Khadgar
  5. Gey’arah

I would write a few honorable mentions, but my list of fav NPCs is actually pretty long. I love characters from both sides and some that arent faction specific

Ahh, I completely forgot about non-playable races!

Naga and Arrakoa are my favourite hands down! My dream class/race combo would be an Arrakoa Shadow Priest for sure.

You say top 5 but you listed six here. Listing two characters while having the same rank is still two characters.

Mechagnomes - the only one I think needs explanation. But they have been growing on me.

I have never been a big “gnome hater” - and the robo cyborog theme is kinda fun.

The NPC list …. I feel like I typed that out tons of times already over the years and it hasn’t changed much since WC 3 - before WoW was even a thing.
