Been thinking of this playing my rogue and hunter. Besides having the ability to sit in stealth for LONG periods of time, the hunter has the edge on rogues. Change my mind
I mean there’s lots of stuff that rogues do that hunters can’t, but you do you man.
Let’s hear it.
I mean, rogues are one of the most sought after classes in mythic plus because of shroud. You can skip the hardest pulls.
Pick lock is amazing in TD.
You can go immune to damage either physical or magical and keep dpsing at 100%.
You also have cheat death, again amazing for high keys.
Your kick is much lower cd.
You can stun, kick, gouge, silence, and blind to stop important casts. Most of any class.
You can feint big damage.
You have access to two one-minute CC’s, again more than what most others can do at a time.
You can vanish mechanics.
Distract can keep pats still so your group can skip.
To name a few…
Transmog…

You should define why hunter is better then rogue. I can only think of like 2 reasons.
Draenei women and ?
A Hunter can’t sneak into the middle of a heavily fortified Enemy City and dance on the Corpse of it’s guards.
No hunter can cause as much damage to an enemies keyboard.
Firstly you don’t need a Rogue to lockpick TD. Blacksmiths and Jewelcrafters can do it too with their fancy lockpicks.
Then after that you listed a bunch of things that are unique to Rogues in a PvE environment and just because they can do these things it doesn’t mean Hunters can’t do a lot more better.
All 3 Hunter specs have access to untalented 15% leech and Mortal Strike. This puts them far ahead of 2/3 Rogue specs who would kill for either of these things, and no, Grand Melee’s leech doesn’t really count in my opinion because it’s too random. This is also the tip of the iceberg when it comes to their pet abilities. They have access to almost every utility ability in the game through their pets. Bloodlust, dispel, snare, out of combat resurrection, slowfall, water walk. Their pets also have the ability to tank tough targets easily and can be resurrected easily with full health when they die with no cooldown.
Hunters only need 1 weapon or 2 if they want to fill all their specs. Rogues need 2 weapons at all times and 3 total if they want to fill all their specs since Outlaw can use a dagger in the offhand. This is an objective disadvantage that dual-wielding classes have when it comes to item level.
2/3 Hunter specs can do their attacks from 40-50 yards away (Even Kill Command is 50 yards and does instant damage unlike projectile damage where the projectile needs to reach its target first). Rogues are restricted to melee range in PvE and must snare their targets to chase them down in PvP. Because Hunters do the same or more DPS than us this is an objective tactical disadvantage. All melee classes besides DHs need more movement abilities to not be at a disadvantage in PvE.
Hunter’s Trailblazer talent lets them move faster than us at a base level despite them being a ranged class that already has movement abilities. It’s not uncommon for Hunters to move at 130-140% speed these days when they haven’t attacked for 1-2 seconds. Then they have Disengage and Aspect of the Cheetah on top of this.
As if that wasn’t insulting enough the one ability that was sacred to Rogues and Feral Druids was given to Hunters in the form of Camouflage and it can be used to skip packs of enemies in places like Visions of N’zoth just like we use Stealth for. They also have a melee spec so we can’t even say that we play the game differently from them and no melee class has ever been given a ranged spec.
Lastly, Hunter auto-attacks never miss. This has nothing to do with DPS but just personally ticks me off. They can apparently bend arrows around corners to hit their targets and never miss while us dual-wield melee miss 19% of our auto-attacks despite making direct contact with the target. It should be the other way around but not even I would wish the feeling of impotency that occurs when you try to auto-attack a neutral target only for them to ignore you for a few seconds as 4 or 5 of your auto-attacks miss. I wish they’d just remove that.
The point I’m making is that Hunters just have a huge variety of abilities and options available to them. Rogues just have a load of abilities that let them avoid damage and run away. Hunters only got this powerful in the post-Cataclysm era and before that I’d agree that they were a lower tier than Rogues but I can’t say that truthfully these days. Just like DHs they’re one of Blizzard’s favorite classes while many others get left in the dust. At least that’s how it feels to me.
you are thinking small, rogues are better in arena, rbgs, mythic plus and raids
Rogues can equip the OG Warglaives of Azzinoth. Checkmate Hunters.
I suppose Hunters have us beat at taming pets though, so there’s that.
If I wanted 2 number 7’s, I’d order a 14.
Remember all those hunter MDI groups?
Yeah, me neither.
Hunter isn’t bad, but anyone complaining about Rogues in BFA being not as good as anything is LOL. They are tier 1 in pvp and pve.
Hunters can’t be fun to play, which is kinda the most important thing isn’t it
My biggest gripe about hunters, in regards to PvP, is why do they get to have so much mobility AND cc.
Boy are you gonna be mad when you see a mage, then.
Their mobility isn’t that great, and the cc department is honestly kind of lacking outside of the survival spec. And as for why the survival spec can cc you a lot, well that’s honestly the only way it can take down any other class by slowly whittling them down and also hoping they make a mistake.
Also yeah have you like never seen a mage before in PvP like the other guy said?
Rogues are better in pvp
Rogues are better in pve
Rogues are better in world content
Well played
Oh I agree. It’s not all about what’s better though, sometimes it’s just about what’s more enjoyable and smooth to play. To be honest I’m someone who just subjectively enjoys ranged DPS more and I regret deleting my first ever character that I made in 2005 (a Troll Hunter) at level 10 because I didn’t enjoy the feel of the class back then before creating a Troll Rogue who became the Rogue you see before you today. Hindsight really is 2020 especially since both classes have changed a lot over the years but I put my frustrations into my post and others that I’ve made.
Rogues are great, I especially like how much of a specialized melee disabler Assassination is in PvP, but if this game had a class change option I just wouldn’t play the class since it’s not as fun as Hunter to me.
