I’ve been checking the client regularly for the beta realms to show up. I checked today knowing that they were only sending a few more invites out.
THERE IT WAS!
The beta realms had popped up!
My excitement was immeasurable. I waited for the realms to go online. But my excitement was soured as soon as I headed to the forums and after browsing through a few posts found a link to a blizzard post on twitter saying it was a visual bug.
They could have at least explained the situation on the forums. For all those that experienced the same. I am sorry. I think an explanation from blizzard would be appropriate.
We are your supporters. We love classic WoW. We were (inadvertently) tricked into thinking the beta invite had been thrown our way.

It was most likely an oversight and not a bug. But still a lot of people were exited to play and then crushed.
Expect nothing and you will never be dissapointed. Eventaully good karma will find you.

Private servers are against TOS. Don’t mention them on the forums.

Are they still? So many pserver shills were given closed beta access. Seems like an odd policy.

People mention playing on private servers here all the time. Many of the beta streamers Blizz invited are/were big private server players. Obviously Blizz doesn’t want you downloading them, but talking about them happens all the time.
Take my advice! Go seek info on google on classic and quench your thirst of all this hype.
Beta won’t matter once Live classic launches. It’s all for practice and boredom.
I just didn’t want to see him get punished for mentioning them. I don’t know how they are perceived anymore and was just looking out.

And I truly respect that, thanks! I reworded it…At the end of the day I could careless. I supported Blizz for 14 years. I’m merely just cattle to them anyways.

I feel you. Earlier today I saw 3 realms that were offline and now when I go back, saying “realms currently available”. Like why say beta & stress test if you are not going to let us in. Wish they would take away the drop list option if they are not going to give it to us. Just my opinion.

I really dislike twitter. Would be nice to get all my info from their forums and site instead of having to deal with other random social media.
I get it man, but BETA is not the real game… It’s a game state that’s there to test the content and abilities and the server to make sure things are working so that players can report them so that they get fixed.
Most people who’re wanting to play BETA are only there because they’re looking for a way to play Classic…
Unfortunately BETA as much like Classic WoW as it is; technically not the real deal… It’s like PTR, it’s an altered game state with limits and different tuning and its own set of problems.
The way I see is that yes, beta isn’t meant to be “early access” to the game but it technically is accessing the game early so… That fact alone is desirable enough to inspire envy, no?
Your argument works if the beta was a twisted, half functional mess that required testing and thus felt like a chore to play. But from what I can tell it looks fully functional minus the level cap.
