Step 1: land somewhere so freaking far from the edge of the map, majority of the players will be in the middle/at buildings
Step 2: kill mobs, hide from other players
Step 3: collect the gold, let the try hard Andy’s and whiners fight. GOLD IS YOUR REP FOR RENOWN
Step 4: collect the power ups monsters drop, if you have a common piece and you happen to find another common piece, you can upgrade it to uncommon, then rare, then epic
Step 5: by now the andies and baddies have died so look around further in the middle of the map. Keep killing mobs to level up and collect gold
Step 6: open golden chests for more gold
Step 7: as the match gets closer to the end either fight or die. By then you’ll have 1000+ gold
1000+ gold = 1000+ rep

Tried this, only got 457 gold. Ended in 3rd place which bizarrely doesn’t give a bonus amount of gold…I guess only first does? =/

Here’s a better guide:
Step 1: Be lucky
Step 2: Don’t be unlucky
1000+, outside of the daily, is beyond lucky. Expect to get around 400 if you’re lucky…then die as soon as you can so you can repeat. Staying alive gives no further benefits: it just wastes your time. In fact, the game I stayed alive the longest in (got all the way to #2!)…I was unlucky, and got a whopping 179 reputation.

This is some goblin efficiency I can get behind.
Eh me and my friend were averaging about 750 a game tonight before I had to leave for work.
I had no idea what I was doing or how the game worked. First couple rounds I just attacked whoever I saw, because I figured if I didn’t attack first, they’d get the first hit and probably win lol. Then after getting killed by every single person I engaged for the first 3 or 4 rounds, I started noticing that everyone I was seeing in the game was like 1-3 levels above me, even within the first minute of the round. So then in like the 5th attempt, I just focused on killing creatures and picking up anything I saw laying on the ground, and trying to generally avoid getting close to other players. Eventually of course I ran into someone and had no choice but to defend myself. At least that time I was not level 1 with no skills, instead I had hit level 4 or 5 and had a several spells on my bar that I had found, so even though I died, I was able to put up a decent fight and the person who killed me was still 2 levels higher than me. I got 14th place that round and 1400 rep. And it was by far the easiest round of the night.
This is how to get renown/reputation.
Where/how do I get the actual rewards I’ve earned? Is there a renown vendor somewhere? Is there currency that gets unlocked? I’ve searched everywhere for this information and can’t seem to find it anywhere.

This is my exact question - I don’t understand how I’m supposed to redeem anything in order to get the rewards I’ve earned according to the Rep table. Like the leather gloves, the boots, etc., etc. - where do you go to actually get those? Are they out on our regular account, or are these items exclusively available in the “Plunderstorm” realm?

They are automatically added to your transmog appearances in your Dragonflight account. And you can also use them in your Plunderstorm account by talking to the orc NPC right in front of you when you spawn in the waiting area before the game starts.
“A guide to a PvP event - Don’t do PvP but instead focus on PvE” → Which I think is the core issue of Plunderstorm and the disconnect and frustration it has caused.
It is a PvP event with rewards PvE’ers want - and in order to get those rewards its forcing people into a tedious rep grind. Which, isn’t good for PvE’ers or PvP’ers.
I keep saying it, but this renown grind’s sole purpose seems to farm PvE’ers play time.
