A heartfelt message from Xu-Fu’s Pet Guides on the upcoming Midnight changes

It’s truly disheartening to see Pet Battling being phased out. This feature was the primary reason I started playing World of Warcraft, and without it in its current form, the game just won’t hold the same appeal for me.

Collecting and battling pets has been a rewarding and enjoyable pastime—one that added a unique sense of adventure and relaxation. Like many others have expressed, flying around the world and discovering new battle pets was both calming and exciting.

If this feature is removed or significantly altered, it could very well mark the end of my time in WoW.

There is no excuse to abandon 99% of the system. It will be always a niche mini game, however its was a really complete one. It needs to engage more people, starting with achievs, dungeons, etc. Its really obvious that if you do what you need to do, people will enjoy. Remember that pet battle that is being cut was also used as part of secrets in a recent past

I really hope this doesn’t go through as is. I came back to play TWW with friends after quitting during WoD and pet battles is what kept me playing after they stopped back in Season 1.

I still remember a kid in High School moving to the US from Japan with a copy of Pocket Monsters Green before it came stateside and being in awe of the game. I’m not sure pet battles was quite the same, but the collecting along with this website has made it really fun to choose pet breeds, level, and optimize.

I was quite sad to see K’aresh ignore pet battles, quests, and wild pets so I hope that Blizzard realize the mistake and don’t do us wrong with Midnight.

Please don’t get rid of Pet Battles. Many of us love them, I use them to level a toon and wait on a dungeon queue. My pets are of great value to me and levelling them brings much satisfaction.

I have engaged with pet battles every since my grandson got me doing them with him all the way back to the introduction. Recently i have been on the fence about the epic version or just the base and now it sounds like the pets that come along with the epic version will have no future. Since i have little to no interest in housing (my garrison has been my home since forever) it will make my choice pretty simple now.

Glad to see so many pet battlers here! I understand the argument that some pet battles have become pretty repetitive, but my favorite part has always been things like the Celestial Tournament and the Dungeons. I’d love to see more of that content instead of less pet battle content. I mean if you don’t like pet battles, you don’t really have to do them. There are very few things in this game that actually require it, and those that do are usually collection-related anyway.

Pet battles are one of my favorite aspects of the game! One of the reasons I came back in Mists after leaving for a bit. There would be more engagement if there were more new things to do. If Blizz needs ideas, the Xu-Fu community is here for suggestions!

My only passion in the game is to collect pets, get them to rare status and level them to 25. Without this I doubt I’d continue to play

I agree with what has been stated. The reason there is less engagement with pet battles is because there hasn’t really been anything added for a good while. The pet battle dungeons were fantastic and we haven’t had one in so long. I tend to do the pet battle WQs because I enjoy them more than many of the other WQs. I was seriously disappointed when we didn’t have any capturable pets on K’aresh, and not one trainer to fight. Please don’t do away with pet battling, Blizz, it’s so much fun. And, Xu-Fu, big thank you for your site, I use it all the time for pet battles!

100% agree with you. I was heartbroken when Archaeology was phased out, as I found it to be a wonderful way to interact with the history and lore of a zone. I still go to older zones and dig when I need something low-effort and just enjoyable to do in game. Pet battles are the same, a low pressure, low effort, highly enjoyable part of Azeroth for me. I almost always end my gaming session with pet battles, no matter what else I was doing for the majority of it: raiding, dungeons, bgs, delves, quests, holidays events, all the other things I enjoy in game, the last thing I do before logging off is a pet battle WQ or daily. I will be crushed if they ever get rid of it or make it unplayable even in older zones. It would completely change how I interact with the game.

not to be rude, but i see 400 likes…that’s miniscule compared the the entirety of the playerbase…

It would be hugely disappointing to see pet battles get removed. It’s a big draw for me. The collecting alone isn’t worth the money I’ve spent over the years in the Blizzard shop on battle pets. I own all but 3 of the currently available pets, plus others that have been removed from the shop. Without the pet battles, I feel that I’m not getting what I paid for. It’s very upsetting. Those purchases were made with the understanding that there would be value beyond just cosmetic in the game.

I know this isn’t the largest sub-community, but it’s one that’s invested a lot of time and (in some cases) money in the game.

Just ask for a refund until they give an actual update with confirmation of new battle pet content. That’s what I did. They just mark your content as unavailable, so you won’t even have lost the investment if you leveled the two pets.

It’s huge for anywhere on the forums. There are threads with over 2k posts and thousands of views that have a quarter of the likes for the original post.

Yo blizz fix this. We want pet battles in Midnight. The hard work, time and money spent to collect and level all of these pets over the years and now you will phase them out? Many of us play just for pets or our gameplay focuses around them. Do better.

First time posting, and its gonna feel as terrible playing wow without my battlepets as it used to be, is more than just a feature for me and many others is almost part of why they play the game. It’s part of what makes my pjs special to guild members and friends. I hope Blizzard can reconsider and add a little love for all the old and new trainers, I’m happy to add my share to the change

As an avid pet battler I am sadly dissappointed in the thought that Blizzard wants to remove one of the main reasons I play the game any more.

Dear Blizzard, Please Don’t. For me. Pet Battle is indeed the fun part of WOW! The only part you cant blame any one for win or lose but yourself!! challenges you to take risk and push the envelop! I hope you don’t scratch it.

gives it that repetitive feeling.

That is 100% of World of Warcraft FYI
