A good way to utilize old zones

They should make gathering mats available in all zones and make cooking non linear. As in if I kill an animal in the old world I can use it’s mats for cooking current items. Should be able to go back and mine and herb and whatever else in the old world. I guess maybe make the items you can craft all either scale or just make the nodes that spawn correlate to your level like mobs do…not exactly sure how they could make that work but I see all these nodes when I’m off doing tmog runs and stuff. I would love to fish or gather in old zones…some of those places are amazing and fun to be in just for nostalgia.

housing plots for the rich.

I don’t care about housing but that is actually a fantastic idea.

Go flying around and pay particular attention to the mountain ranges. There is a ton of potential there.

Man, I’d kill if they made everything in this game evergreen.

There’d be so much damn content, maybe too much lol.

Like, imagine flying over an old zone like Elwynn Forest, and there’s world quests there to fish and stuff, but it’s relevant for lvl 80s?

And lowbies would be doing their thing, leveling, and max-level players would sometimes join them?

Idk, sounds like a real MMO to me hah.

FF14 actually has a decent amount of stuff like this, it’s more horizonal progression, like all for cosmetics, so players of all levels can play. Stuff like Darkmoon Faire/Gold Saucer.

It’s been a long time, but GW2 was a lot like this too. everyone in the zone was the same level give or take 3 levels.

You just ran face first into stuff to do with people and did it.

Not sure I want to fly over all of Feralas or Eastern Plaguelands, for example to find herbs for TWW potions and flasks.
Some of those older zones are still large and a pain to navigate for herbs.

Yea but you wouldn’t have to. You just could if you wanted. There’s still plenty of herbs in current zones.

I just wish they’d condense the leveling experience. I see people in dungeons all the time but I might see one person every few hours in the world. Thirty expansions will do that, makes the world look dead

i got tired of running old raid and would like this trading profession as alternative

I say let obsolete things be obsolete.

Focus on the expansion content.

Speaking of mats and old content, can we resolve to have all timewalking items disenchant to current expansion mats?

Right now it’s a grab bag on what you’re going to get.

I flew around the old zones collecting mole machine locations (racial ability) and it was a lonely journey across vast, empty spaces.

They could make new recipies need random old zone mats.

Least the way GW2 does it, they have one pool of global resources aka iron, copper. Then they there is expansion/zone specific resources related to where you got the recipe.

Very enterprising idea, OP. I agree. There are quite a few zones that would be ideal for growing medical plants for medical use as medication.
