A gaming computer

Will this system run retail on max settings?

Probably not (or at least not very well).

what rig do you have might I ask

Here’s the core of the system I have:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 2.8 GHz 6-Core Processor
  • GPU: XFX Radeon RX 580 8 GB GTS
  • RAM: GSkillz DDR4-3200 16GB
  • Mobo: Gigabyte H370 HD3

I built it around 3 years ago. It’s a mid-range build, and as such I run WoW on mid-range settings - the graphics quality sliding scale in the system interface recommends a graphics quality of 6 (out of 10).

The computer you’ve linked is a low-end build, and I would expect you to (maybe) be able to run WoW with low settings with that computer. The CPU seems OK, but the rest of it doesn’t seem worth buying, imo.

I would recommend having a look at World of Warcraft System Requirements to get a sense of what sort of hardware is required for min. vs recommended

Ah cool. Do you mind if I see a picture of the rig? If not, no worries.

I’m not able to upload pictures here, but this is the case I have, so pretty much how it looks: https://www2.razer.com/ap-en/gaming-systems-old/s340

Roger, can you help me find one on bestbuy or amazon that will do so?
In the 5-600 dollar range. Please and thank you.

By “do so,” do you mean run WoW on max settings?

If so, then we might be looking at the recommended specs from World of Warcraft System Requirements.

That means a NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080 8 GB or AMD Radeon™ RX Vega 64 8 GB or better, so we could start with searches for those. Keep in mind though, that they are a couple of years old, and probably not worth buying for a new build right now.

Another place to look would be at a review site for graphics cards. Something like Tom’s Hardware is a pretty good site:

If you’re looking for a pre-built set up that comes ready to plug and play, you’re paying some additional costs, like retail pricing on OEM software (Windows, for example), the cost of assembly, and whatever else may be included. I wouldn’t expect to get a full desktop capable of running WoW at max settings for less than the cost of just the graphics card.

With that in mind, you may determine that it would be better to adjust your expectations, budget, criteria, or all of the above.
