A Few Very Basic Questions

I’m new to PvP. I came back to BFA in patch 8.3 after a long break. I’m trying PvP this patch for two reasons. First, to acquire Essences that require it. And, second, to gear up through Conquest cap. I’m enjoying it, and I’d like to explore PvP a bit more and I’m hoping to ask a few questions.

  1. To earn Rank 1 of Blood of the Enemy, I need to win a PvP Island Expedition. To queue for that, do I need to have my own group formed? Or, can I queue as a solo player?

  2. To earn Rank 2 of Conflict and Strife I need to earn 1000 rank. I believe I do this in Arena. Correct? If so, do I need to queue with a preformed group, or can I queue solo?

  3. I’m gearing up mostly through Conquest points turn ins. I’ve been doing faction assaults, CTA quests, chasing War Supply Crates, and trying to win a daily random regular and epic BG. Is there another or better way to earn Conquest points? I’m not sure how effective Arena is to accomplish that.

  4. I’m doing this on a Paladin that I usually play as Retribution. But, I also have been learning Holy. I enjoy both specs very much. Would you recommend I PvP as Retribution or Holy? Is the answer the same for BGs and Arenas? I guess I’m asking if I’d be more valuable to an Arena team or to a BG team as Holy or Ret.

I really appreciate your taking the time to answer a few very basic questions for me. (I understand the last one isn’t so basic, but I still appreciate your thoughts.)

1: you have to form a pre made group. Look for one or make one in the group finder
2: conflict rank 2 is rewarded in end of week chest of over 1k rating in 2v2 3v3 or rbg rating. You basically can’t lose rating below 1400 or something, so just have to spam games, easiest and fastest in 2v2. Have to make or find a group same as 1
3: arena is ok for it, rbgs are also an option if you prefer those. 50% increased conquest rewards for wins when not up to current weeks cap
4: Holy paladin is arguably the strongest healer atm and is much easier to find groups as a healer. But Ret paladin can pump too if more comfortable on that
