A few questions - What exactly is in a Druid's Grove?

When you google the definition of “Grove” on google you get

a small wood, orchard, or group of trees.

But then further down, it says a grove is 1000+ trees.

However in shadowlands the night fey have an option to tend to their own groves which constitutes like 15 plots (which for gameplay reasons is reasonable, they wouldnt be able to give us 1000+ plots to mess with)

I am just trying to figure out how to best RP as a druid tending to a grove - especially after moving to a new area.

Additionally, outside of just trees, what exactly is in a grove? I assume herbs and plants, it should be self surviving with some help from the druid itself to protect it. What about animals and such? How would one RP about “protecting” it?

I don’t know if WoW has ever explicitly answered the question. D&D has Druid’s groves, and they do have a definition there. I’ll list the standards and maybe you can find an overlap.

  • The Druid must have a place to sleep (it can be a natural shelter)
  • There must be a good supply of food and clean, fresh water
  • There must be some sort of system of protection for the grove and its inhabitants

The 5e spell for a Druid Grove applies to any outdoor area between 30 cubic feet and 90 cubic feet.

I think a Druid’s grove can basically be any area that a Druid has decided to protect.

A Druid’s grove is essentially a piece of wilderness that a Druid has in effect taken into their charge.

They may be protective to the extent of not allowing outsiders to hunt or log in the area.

Night Elf Druids have a particular notion of what wilderness should be like and frequently will modify the landscape and trees to match it. (They’ll be the ones that try to forest up a desert.)
