I am playing SOD and I played Classic but even if I like that version of the game there are many things that I would like to see if they are better in retail:
Are BG premades banned? this is the main reason I unsubbed from WOW in Classic and it’s looking like I would have to do the same in SOD.
Are arenas requiered to gear for PVP? Is there still gear gated behind rating like in WOTLK? Because I absolutely despise that.
Am I forced to do PVE to do PVP? is it finally the case that the best gear for PVP is farmed doing PVP?
Will I be forced to Raid at all?, the only PVE content I enjoy is dungeons, I despise Raiding and that the best gear comes from Raids.
Can someone answer me this 4 points to see if it’s worth trying Retail?
You can queue for BGs with 5 people.
I believe in classic you can queue with an entire raid?
Premades are very uncommon and most of the time people say premade it isn’t.
I believe there is a rating element to upgrading PVP gear, but it only effect the PVE item level. In PVP all PVP gear scales up.
Realistically you probably won’t encounter premades in retail outside of 40-man/epic battlegrounds, if running into them is a concern for you. There might still be smaller-scale 3-5/man premades in regular battlegrounds, but they’re fairly uncommon compared to the (much more common) epic BG premades
…or if the concern is whether or not you will be able to run a premade, no worries there, you can queue with either a 5-stack or multiple 5-stacks (sync queuing) as you please
Your question was kind of vague - are you concerned about encountering premades (in other words, being on “the receiving end”) or are you concerned as to whether you would be able to premade with your friends (on “the giving end”)?
random bgs you can queue with your friends if you want to. They are experimenting with a soloqueue for rated BGs, which will be solo only.
All honor gear has the same pvp ilvl, and all conquest gear has the same pvp ilvl.
you must have not played retail in a while.
Short version is that dungeons are a full end game progression system, where you exponentially scale up the damage and HP of the dungeon, getting better gear as you go up in levels until a cap.
Rated Battlegrounds offer a non-arena path to rating. And with the exception of the upcoming solo queue experiment, it requires a full team of 10 to queue. (So, it’s always premade vs. premade.)
It looks like it hasn’t been explained yet, but pvp gear (gear sourced from pvp) has a pve ilvl and a pvp ilvl.
So it might be idk 460 ilvl in pve but as soon as you enter pvp combat it will jump to idk 489 or something.
This is so if you’re not the world’s best pvp player you still scale up so it’s a more even field but if you take that she gear into pve you won’t be out gearing pvers
So rating does nothing? I just want to know if its like WOTLK where it completely prevented you from buying pieces of gear if you didn’t had the rating.
