A fair fix for OCE ping when playing against East coast and South American servers

Every time my partners and I play on east coast (I.e Tichondrius) and South American servers, we consistently get 300+ MS and up to 3 second delays when the fighting gets hectic. However, while playing on west coast servers, we get 150-200MS at most every game.

My solution to this problem is that every game that has an OCE leader and an east coast or south American leader on the other team, the server will default to a west coast server for the match. This will allow for fairer ping between players of different regions, while not forcing US players to play on atrocious ping.

The ping difference is barely noticeable it’s only Americans who complain. But they complain about everything.

or they just group oce servers together ?

While a solution, the player pool can be very limited.

tichondrius = west coast

i like your idea tbh, unfortunately i don’t see them doing anything about it - trust me, as somebody who lives in perth, i know how much this shid sucks. the only workaround is to just move to a west coast server (or east coast, whatever gives you lower ms) yourself and only queue from that server. this does limit you in terms of finding guilds if you’re into pve or whatever but if your priority is lower, consistent ms for pvp it’s the way to go

so far basically all of my arenas have been hosted on west coast servers since making the change to only playing + queuing from tichondrius/proudmoore and i get a nice consistent ~190 ms every game (using exitlag) which is a huge improvement from getting 250-270ms playing a match hosted on a west coast server and 300+ms playing on an east coast hosted match

Wait so you get ~50 less ms by being on a US west coast server compared to just queueing with someone that has lead on a US west coast server (if you’re on oce realms)?

I haven’t played on tich since mop but if that’s the case I might xfer to a west coast realm instead.

xferring + exitlag i dropped at least 50ms

originally i had some issues with consistency using exitlag to route to los angeles servers while still playing on an oceanic realm and xferring got rid of that completely

another huge benefit (imo) is just playing at the same ping the entire time i’m logged in, getting whiplash going from 50 to 230 then back again made the 230 seem alot worse than it really is

We can either be busy complaining, or taking your oil. Take your pick.

Yeah makes sense. I’m also playing with ExitLag and get around 250ms in arena. Sub 200ms would be nice. I’ll have to log on some old alts on tich and test it out.

I get between 180 → 230 from Perth and it never really goes any higher even when vsing Brazilian teams. Which is still less then the average reaction times.
