A dumb, but genuine question:

As I said in the title, it’s probably a pretty dumb question.

What’s the deal with all these currencies? Do we really need this huge amount of currency?

I understand that for one thing or another, a different currency makes sense, like for example, the Nerubian Kej.

I know the functionality of all the current currency, as If we take the time to read, we can easly understand how they all work separately. but what’s their “purpose”?

Why not just have a single currency, with a much larger cap, but with the functionality of all the currencies availabe?

(Except for gold. ofc)

That’s not a dumb question. Idk the answer though.

  • If I had to guess, I’d say they may have put in different currencies for different aspects of the game to give the players choice of what/how they want to play.
Doesn’t explain all of it, though.

It isnt a dumb question at all. The amount of currencies are dumb. My guess is they made several different groups of people to work on several different aspects all at the same time. They were given guidelines and ideas that they probably had to stick close to…hence the multiple different pockets of currency and how it all relates to the same thing in the end. You’re right…we should have one, maybe two forms and that’s it. Everything else is quite literally a pain in the butt.

There’s different currencies for different kind of content.

Kej existing for Nerubians is more of a roleplaying thing.

All of them pretty well explain what they’re for.

If I could get a currency exchange goblin, I’d be happy.

Like how much Kej could I buy with my 11 billion Stygia or mana pearls?

Please?¿

I noticed that with higher renown levels for Severed Threads you unlock the ability to exchange Resonating Crystals for Kej at an increasingly fair exchange rate the higher you go. Thought that was neat lol

I just look at so much extra currency I have from a long time ago and would be nice to rewind grind my way to old stuff at a fair exchange

Make it Warband applicable.

Should be able to convert old currency we got just laying around in legacy currency tabs to gold or the current currencies.

its because people horde currencies
the objective is to get players to DO the content relevant to the Currency vendor

if the same currency is used then there will be people with a massive advantage, like with the AH where one person can buy out the ENTIRE stock of mats and then relist it all at some 10-50x and you end up with a common ore being sold for 500g

my main issue is the stupid bag space items that are just a currency not put into a currency tab

Dragonflight: “Yup! And as an added bonus, most of them won’t even occupy the currency tab, they’ll just take bag space.”

Take old currency and put it in a blender and make it into like timeless bronze coins

Then buy stuff through a retro goblin vendor not on AH.

Keep current currency separate so people grind that but it gets blended next expansion. This includes bag space items.

Honestly a revamp of currency tab/bag display would be nice with appropriate vendor location if nothing else. Like a reagent bag, but just currency

Ooo that’s an even better idea, imagine if they got all converted to Timewarped Badges? I never quite have enough of those.

Devs use currencies to timegate certain things. Also, having many currencies forces the player to grind each separately.

Having different currencies allows devs to control the player progress exactly as they want (ex. seasonal cap).

I am not a fan of all these currencies though.
