A Dissertation on Lorewalkers and Roleplayers

So people have been getting on me about roleplaying a Lorewalker, so I have some things to say that it is lore friendly for me to do such a thing. Here is what I’ve done with research AND what I have figured out initially. This way I don’t have to constantly try to repeat myself when people complain about me being not lore-friendly.

1.) Lorewalkers CAN know things outside of Pandaria.

I had this one a lot, where my Draenei would know something (she’s a practiced archaeologist and historian) about different things outside of where the Lorewalkers were established.

The WoWpedia CLEARLY states that Lorewalkers ‘travel the world’
(Reference: https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Lorewalkers) so yes, a Lorewalker CAN know about Vrykul runes or various different historical things; archaeology is a form of historical study, so being a Lorewalker can get your foot (or in my case, hoof), in the door.

2.) Can only be Pandaren!

This one, while I might not have a lot of references, I can speak about what is seen in game itself. While Jinyu themselves can be Lorewalker (which easily debunks the only Pandaren complaint), it’s clear that ANYONE can be a Lorewalker, and why do you think I’ve deduced this?

Anyone can get the Tabard; if they didn’t want us to BE Lorewalkers, then why give us access to the tabard? Why give us access to the Flying Disc if they didn’t want us to use it and get Exalted with the Lorewalkers? Wouldn’t it not make logical sense, being exalted with them, to join them?
And anyone can be a Monk, why would be too farfetched to wanna be a Lorewalker anyway? What do you have against it?

3.) Why not be Explorer’s League?

The Explorer’s league has a Dwaven focus and study. Though they have resources to do other things, that is not their primary specialization. Though they are helping in the Dragon Isles, with the Dragonscale Expedition.

And they do have a lot of non-dwarf members… So what makes that different from the Lorewalkers?

And the League also have other things being a secondary and consequence of just being able to vacuum up everything due to economy of scale.

Okay, so… a few things.

  1. No one on GD is going to care about your roleplaying. I’d say story forums might be a better place for this.
  2. Unless you’re specifically roleplaying as one of the Pandaren faction Lorewalkers… the title of Lorewalker doesn’t need to be tied to one singular faction and I think people need to think outside the box. I’ve been in RP guilds where Lorewalker was an RP rank and it had nothing to do with Pandaria.
  3. If it’s that big of a deal that so many people are jumping on you about it, then another similar option is this:

Here’s lore from one of them:

And then the note at the end also says this:

The Timewalkers have played a similar role in recent times, and have a rank of the same name.

it sucks when you have people that are so strict into lore that they dont want to make even simple things like this get a pass even if there is backup and makes sense. people really need to remember what rp is, not everyone is gonna know every single thing about this games lore and its suppose to be fun and they also need to open their eyes and just let it slide when you have manari in the alliance now lol. if anything, just find people who dont care and be friends with them. no need to take it all serious lol

Like I get it sticking to the lore; I’ve seen people RPing as Spyro the Dragon or a Jedi (I’ve seen both) and they seem to be well and dandy, but the moment I utter the words “LOREWALKER”, apparently I’m the badguy?

Had even some guildies be weird about it. They’d probably say even Timewalkers are only for Bronze Dragons.

One said that they found it weird with the Lorewalker stuff, so I tried to say “Maybe I can be a Lorewalker in the Explorer’s League?”, they in turn said: “Then ICly I would question your loyalties since you’re splitting your factions between Lorewalkers, Explorer’s League, and us.”

Then the Rune one, had a rolling thing (DiceMaster I think) and I beat them out on runes (Someone supposedly a runemaster in character). They got butthurt and said the “You’re a Lorewalker you only know Pandaria things, you’re not supposed to know these Vrykul symbols.”
