A different kind of post, a thank you

I notice an insane amount of negativity these days, it seems like no matter what the devs do people complain.

Although I do agree BFA could use some work, and could be better… I dunno man I still love WoW.

I have played WoW for almost 13 years now, It is without a doubt a very big part of my life, and I love that. I love this game. I have probably had like 20 thousand hours of joy and happiness from this game. Definitely say I get my moneys worth. I will say its my favorite game of all time without a doubt. I just love it man…

The giant world you live in, the people you can meet, the dungeons and battlegrounds you can conquer for upgraded gear and skill powers etc. Man its just way better than any other game to me, I get bored of shooters, even overwatch which is a fantastic game IMO is nothing compared to WoW.

I have played WoW since wayyyy back when i was still in highschool lmfao.

I remember playing it so much i actually failed and dropped out of highschool in my junior year (dont worry i went back next yr and graduated on time) This game is like crack to me lol. I just love everything about it… I think all the classes are fun in their own way but I especially love rogue, its just so so so much fun…

Of course WoW could be a bit better in its current state (but that is actually all personal opinion of course, one person may think entirely different from the other) but i think at its core WoW is still a very amazing game!!! I still log on everyday and play. Im not a rated pvper or a mythic+ grinder or anything I mostly just play casual battlegrounds because its my favorite. I love stalking, annoying and assassinating players in BGs its just so much frikken fun man… I know some people think rogue is weak but personally im having a ton of fun with it so i dont know? should i listen to those people or just play rogue and have fun?

I dunno man i just see so much negativity these days so i just wanted to take a few minutes out of my day to say thank you… thank you for making my favorite game of all time and for providing me with over a decade of some of the most fun ive had in my life.

This is very true, steady complaints have always been a thing and always will be. All these players get upset when their one demand isn’t met. Oddly enough, many players seem to be on the same page with some of these same major issues that have been a thing since BfA beta.

Many of the drastic changes we have seen with this “new Blizzard” seem to be chasing players off at an alarming rate, so much so that Blizzard was forced to stop using a player count as a means to measure the success of the game.

Perhaps they should stop their new ways that many don’t seem to want and go back to the tried and true ways of the “old Blizzard”, the Blizzard that actually had a high player count.

It’s not my job on the line though, so it’s whatever.

Did they try re-implementing flight? Removing level scaling and ilvl scaling? Un-nerfing heirlooms? Removing excess trash from dungeons? Giving tanks back aggro? Reverting old raids so people’s sub-max alts can do them again?

No?

I think they haven’t tried anything that deviates from their master plan at all.

Hint: implementing things that players have said in advance would cause them to quit deserves criticism.

I love WoW

BfA is a raging dumpster fire i wouldnt waste urine on to put out.

Being negative, or unsatisfied with the current state doesnt mean you dislike the game in general. Just means you know they could do better and want to see it. In the end they are paid to put out a product thats life depends on the quality. So because I want to see this game keep going i, and others, will voice our opinions where we see the game falling short so as to hopefully sway change in a proper direction

I’m the same exact way op. I have been playing Warcraft since my grandpa introduced me to the first rts game. He used to show me how to make buildings and units. I used to try to get better and better at the game. I was very young though and I could never be as good as him.

I remember finally starting to get good at the game and I was so excited to tell him and he ended up making fun of me saying… you still play that old thing? Check this out! And he puts in Warcraft 2 and I was blown away lol. Ever since then I’ve been hooked on to this franchise. We also liked Starcraft… but Warcraft was always number one.

I love WoW…sure it could be better, but in a lot of ways it’s still the best game for me. I hope it keeps running til the day I die.

I also still really love this game.

Whenever I ask people what they don’t like about it, it’s always stuff I don’t do… so maybe that’s why I am still really happy with it, idk.

For me it just keeps getting better and better!

A game the size of wow is bound to have people complaining about something.

I still love WoW.

Wait, thats illegal.

It comes from a place of love, the most vocal people remember the game being better. Don’t act like this hate is some unearned vitriol being slung at an innocent bunch of devs.

They ignore our feedback and released a half-baked expansion for the second time in the last five years and keep making the game worse. Every bit of criticism is deserved.

Tons of people ask for High Elves as well. Should Blizzard put those in since they are so highly requested?

I really hate people that twist valid points with stupid exaggerations. You’re well aware of what she’s referring to, don’t be a dishonest clown.

I’m still here and will be a while. I grumble and get angry lately, and the story means a LOT to me. But deep down, I’m a roleplayer and collector. That’s what I play the game for. Fun. And while I had way more fun in Legion, I have yet to see a reason to just up and leave. There’s a lot I’m not happy with though, but that’ll happen. I’m sure things will get better.

I am irritated on how my chili fries are not in wow yet.

grow up blizzard! (just kidding btw.)

People in general have the passion for negativity. Just think about it.
When people say nice things to you, your common response will be like “thank you” pretty much. That’s about it. Nothing further. But when a negative thought or opinion is presented, it’s hard not to be fully engaged with a train of thought, to prove that whatever the negativity presented is wrong!

Bored people are drawn to drama too.

So prior to 8.1.5, there was news about portals being removed, and look at the thread about it. People have gone nuts about it. But when I visited the portal room in Stormwind, I was super impressed by the improvement. Yeah…they removed the portal to the WoTLK Dalaran but there is a portal to Crystalsong…which is right below Dalaran, so basically the same thing…and yet people had to complain a lot.

BFA is not perfect but I find that there are many things still enjoyable.

I mean garbage game or garbage in general tend to attract negativity.

You dont see negativity around God of War or Spiderman.

or players for those games, they simply don’t care.
The one thing I’ve noticed about WOW is, since it’s been around for so long and with so many people still playing, we’ve got lots of people who care for the game and a lot of sharp criticism.
Some of them have actually made some changes. Like the new Heirloom upgrade costs. They have reduced the price quite a lot since so many people pointed out it was way way too much.

Not only can I say I’ve been playing this game for over 14 years, but I have the rare scenario in also saying I’ve been reading the forums for 14 years.

And yes, they have always been negative. The simple explanation is because people who are happy with the game have no reason to complain, then you have a breed (like myself) who just get addicted to the forums for reasons unknown.

But yes, people will complain no matter what. Hell, I can still remember the last 6 months of Wrath. The forums absolutely would have made you think Wrath was the absolute worst, and “wow destroying” expansion ever.

Now here we are in a time where people not only revere Wrath, but also praise MoP (which too was attacked daily). Infact, almost all the lore complaints are identical. “Something something faction war is trash”, “Vol’Jin is a traitor”, “Writing is garbage”.

The cycle continues.

I think the point is that while even the old blizz dev crew didn’t add everything people asked for they were not big on necessarily taking things away unless there was a serious balance issue.

Additionally, your comparison is a bit off. Asking them to put dev time in to make stuff is a bit different than asking them to not put dev time in on removing things that no one asked to have removed, stuff that was never an actual issue, they just made it one.
