A Deaf Raiding Guild was just forced into retirement due to the addon bans

How many cutting edges do you have or hall of fame achievements?

Blizzard tunes for the best players.

Any advantage can and will be used, and because players find a way, Blizzard doesn’t whack the nerfbat.

  • DBM
  • Plater
  • Weak Auras

I believe they are also working on adding their own version of a DPS meter. These are a work in progress, and we just need to wait and see and let them get the information from the Alpha testers. Games still about 5-6 months away from release and things can change.

Also encounters won’t have to be so complex anymore which is why they got that way is because of some of the add-ons.

Psst, you can remove Ovi’nax, Stix and Sprocket, and Fractilus, and the raid still has bosses.

If you’re gonna try this at least do it on an account that isn’t a burner :joy:

I mean examples of specific mechanics that were designed that way because of addons.

Name some.

(You can’t. Because there aren’t any.)

Frac doesn’t need an addon, but voice coms sure do help.

I believe if RWF guilds didn’t come up with a way to solve Echo of Neltharion, everything would’ve been nerfed to compensate.

Blizzard doesn’t even know if the best guilds can kill a boss, they just leave the numbers and mechanics in place if it works out well.

Literally addressed by Ion in the video–I even linked the time he began talking about it.

It just makes it easier and because it does, people use it.

As for if mythic needs it, I believe tuning is loose enough now to not need it.

Addons just decrease the time people spend on bosses.

Neltharion’s a funny one because according to Blizzard, the idea was to take the hearts into the previous fight areas after breaking the walls.

I guess nobody told Blizzard that the previous fight areas filled up with lava?

Maybe the fry cook snuck in and added it to the code when nobody was looking.

Blame it on Nomi.

Let me ask you this.

If people think that addons are required now.

And they keep the difficulty the same.

What is the end result of removing addons?

It was the same tier as Mythic Zskarn. Which wasn’t just badly designed, it was actually a scandal.

I feel like they do that with some fights for sure. sprocket for example, where the polarity on the mines was added for…reasons, turned a mechanic that didn’t really need a wa into one people will just follow a wa for.

Where developers made a boss forget mechanics so they could get past it.

This is something a lot of casual players don’t get.

A big reason why people who raid Mythic have so little faith in the dev team, is because we’ve seen first-hand over the years their incompetence and downright dishonesty.

The end result is the people who needed addons to do the content will be wholly unable to do the content. Which means numbers are going pfffffffft.

So, the only option that will remain to increase those numbers back up is simple “dodge dragon breath” fights.

Why do you think this is about boss mechanics?

People are talking about not being able to see their own buffs, or health bar, or combo points properly.

This is far, far beyond boss mechanics.

Don’t worry Snozy I did not forget about you. Your quip was hilarious and had my in stitches - If you were half as funny as that normally maybe people wouldn’t mind the dribble that you spew.

Very astute. But the entire point is the game plans to have those tools in place.
In the first Alpha build we have seen a new Boss Warning interface panel, a significant overhaul to nameplates, a vast improvement to the new cooldown manager, and updates to the personal resource display.

Classes have also been structured to prune “auras”, aka things to keep track of, which the default UI did bad.

It would be so nice if we could talk about what the new tools lack and how to get to where they need to be, but instead we have to entertain the children.
